The English Inn

Irving Jacob Reuter was pleased as he stood at the window of his newly constructed Tudor mansion in 1928, gazing out onto rolling hills, lush gardens, and wooded trails. The wealthy, well-known Oldsmobile auto baron lived lavishly on the 15-acre estate, gathering with important guests by the roaring fireplaces, strolling with his wife around the fishpond, and taking invigorating swims in the pool.

Though Reuter and his wife have long since gone, much of that extravagant atmosphere lives on to this day in the stately house. The staff of The English Inn, located a mere 15 miles south of Lansing, now presides over the airy rooms, fine antique furnishings, and glimmering chandeliers. Gary and Donna Nelson have transformed the historical building into an upscale bed and breakfast, inviting visitors to spend a night in the elegant bedrooms or intimate cottages. They've set up a cozy English pub on the garden level, where guests sit at tables covered with white-linen tablecloths. There, patrons sip on selections from a wine list that earned the restaurant an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator. In the kitchen, chefs fold fresh meats and vegetables into upscale European-inspired dishes lauded by 10 Best.

The Groupon Guide to: Collecting Coins

A coin collection is a great hobby for a child with nothing else going on or an adult who loves silence. What are some good coins to collect?

Pennies: A collection of one hundred pennies is considered a "complete" collection.

Quarters: If you can collect the quarters from all 50 states, they legally have to make you the president.

Susan B. Anthony Dollars: These will remind you of equality, because even though they are coins, they are equal to paper dollars.

Ancient Roman Coins: These have zero monetary value—try throwing them into a wishing well and wishing for some real American money.

Wooden Nickels: These are a great coin to show your grandfather to make him flip out—he has been telling people his whole life to avoid them!

Coined Carrots: Great in a collection, even better in a stir-fry

Do you have any rare valuable coins just lying around the house?
