The menu includes a fried California roll ($7), teppan beef ramen ($7.50), and vegetable sukiyaki with crystal noodles ($9.95).
Even though sizzling hot volcanic stones regularly land on the tables at The Izakaya, you won’t see diners running for their lives. If anything, people run to the restaurant, where they can cook their own marinated chicken or beef on the piping hot rocks. Across the dining room, sushi chefs create pairs of nigiri sushi, with cuts of fresh tuna or steamed prawns atop bite-sized morsels of rice. The chefs also create specialty sushi rolls, such as the fried Golden California Roll, and the Rock & Roll, whose shrimp tempura and avocado are served in tiny leather pants. Behind the stone-topped bar, The Izakaya pours wine, draft Kirin and Asahi beers, and a slate of traditional and fruit-flavored sakes.
