In the spirit of playfully, fonduelly prepared portions, today’s Groupon gets you $40 worth of hot grub at The Melting Pot for $20. This Groupon is good for Melting Pot locations in Downtown and near northwest Austin. Fondue is the American standard of sizzling food preparation, culinary empowerment, and the merriment of dipping.

The Melting Pot currently features an impressive Pacific Island–themed menu ($82–$92 per couple). Commence the culinary flight with a feng shui cheese fondue of Gruyere, horseradish, and Havarti, and move on to lettuce wraps with a mandarin-orange-ginger dressing. From there, you can choose between several elaborate protein- and seafood-based entrees, and finish out with a special passion-fruit Yin & Yang fondue that blends dark chocolate with passion-fruit-infused white chocolate. Some substitutions from the restaurant's regular menu options are also available.

Those lucky enough to have an indulgent sweet tooth will blissfully melt over the tastes of The Melting Pot's standard roster of chocolate fondues. Fresh fruit alongside cheesecake, marshmallows, pound cake, and brownies make the perfect aerial crafts for descending into a sea of bananas foster, chocolate s'mores, or any of the other chocolate options.

Quality ingredients make The Melting Pot a curious blend of high culture and recreational fare. It’s difficult to have more fun when DIY dining, and there’s no better way to impress others than by exhibiting the expert hand-eye-basketball coordination dipping food requires. With two Austin locations, fondue enjoyment can be enjoyed that much more conveniently. Make your reservation in advance online or by calling ahead.

Reviews

Citysearchers and Yelpers sing four-star praise of The Melting Pot's Northwest location:

  • The fondue here is excellent. Where else can you go to enjoy 2 hours plus and take your time to really enjoy the food you're eating. – kevin88900, Citysearch.
  • This is a "must do" experience! The waiter was VERY courteous, the food outstanding and the ambience exceptional for dates. It is quiet, romantic and the food is seasoned perfectly. – hlsmith, Citysearch.
  • The meats are always fresh, the restaurant is very nice and clean, and everything about it is just fun. The signature cocktails are quite tasty and they don't skimp on the servings. – Stephen V., Yelp.

Groupon Says

Fondue Faux Pas for First-Timers

Those unfamiliar with fondue-style dining may find themselves up against a number of uncertainties when it comes to the process and etiquette of dipping solid—or “proper”—food into delicious flame-warmed dip. Print out this list of fondue etiquette tips and keep it handy in your wallet to avoid becoming the topic of some egghead’s fondue blog:

  • First-timers may be tempted to fold a tiny paper boat and set it afloat upon the liquid fondue. This is permitted.
  • Items such as cubed meats, individual fruits, and pastries may be dipped into the fondue using a provided utensil, and not while held in teeth.
  • Fondue can be very, very hot and must never be hurled in the face of a loved one, unless they have said or done something to inconvenience you.
  • Did you know you can make your own fondue at home using crayons, sunlight, and patience? It’s true!
