Questions and Answers
Will the delivery person actually bring the paper to my doorstep or just throw it on the curb? I don’t think I have seen a newspaper deliverer ever get out of their car. I want it left on my front porch.

Beware of this company. My husband used to be subscribed to the WP. He called them every week in November to cancel before we moved in December – he spoke to a CS agent each time (yet we continued to receive the Sunday edition). We just got a $100 bill for delivery to the old house from January to April. He’s been calling now three times a day for the past week but has been unable to get ahold of anyone except voicemail.
They will not let you go easily, so be careful.

Good Morning All! Thank you Margo for providing all of the hours and phone numbers. My advice would be to simply call if you would like to unsubscribe or have the paper placed in a certain place. They will be happy to accommodate, I am sure. Enjoy the paper!

Does being the groupon automatically subscribe you? Or do we have to sign up on the website?
buying

Will the Sunday only subscription definitely include the weekly coupons and store circulars? Currently, people who subscribe to the daily WP get their coupons/store circulars on Saturday, not Sunday. Thanks!
We had Sunday only subscriptions before, and it did include a Saturday delivery of just the coupons and circulars. Sunday’s delivery is just the paper. I’ve been able to go online to the WP website to put the paper on hold for vacation, which is handy.
So I bought it. Is the paper just gonna show up now or I do have to sign up with the Washington Post?
does getting the groupon automatically sign me up with the Washington Post, or do I need to something else.
@ Linda S – Seriously? I can’t believe you wrote that. Get off your lazy butt!
Katie P – are you friends with Linda S?

All-
If you bought the Groupon, you will now receive the delivery in 2 – 3 weeks. Since it is the Sunday paper, it will have exactly what the normal Sunday paper contains – not the Saturday coupons, etc. Enjoy!
Anne M. @ Groupon

Don’t know Linda S. or Katie P. Perhaps Linda S. has limited mobility or needs medication each morning that takes a while to activate. I believe that this forum is for discussing and clarifying Groupon offers, not for judging others. We don’t walk in other people’s moccasins. Just saying!
@Anne M, – I think you misunderstood. The supplements that come with the Sunday paper (coupons, comics, Post magazine, etc. – stuff that is printed early) typically arrives with the Saturday paper when you have a full subscription. I think they do this because Saturday’s edition plus the Sunday supplements is roughly the size/weight of the Sunday paper without the supplements so it balances the amount the carrier has to tote around. I believe you get the “jumbo” Sunday including all the supplements on Sunday when you are a Sunday only subscriber IIRC from when I did it.

Clarification! The Sunday paper DOES include coupon pak that may may be delivered on separately on Sunday with the paper. Enjoy!

Does anyone know if you live in an apartment complex, do they deliver to your door? or to the front of the apartment? (there is no front desk in the complex).
Does the August 7 expiration date mean we have to start the subscription immediately? I will be on travel throughout the month so I would have to put it on hold right away. I’d prefer to start when I get back.
Just a positive comment about WP — delivery to Rockville, MD was excellent and cancellation was just as easy (via email). We cancelled due to cost, but this reduced price groupon makes me BUY. Thanks!
Can you buy this and have it delievered to another address? I’d like to have it delievered to my fiance’s home instead of mine.

Linda M. – I would pt your fiance’s home address in the shipping information so that it will be sent to her home directly.
Anne M.@ Groupon
It is still unclear to me whether we need to take additional action (subscribe through WP website?), or if buying the groupon automatically starts the 20 weeks? A few others have asked this as well, I haven’t seen an answer yet. (Apologies if I missed it.)
Anne M.
After purchasing the Groupon, it said don’t call the Post until tomorrow since they are busy today and the coupon says it expires on August 7th. Do I need to call the post to subscribe or as your posted earlier, is there nothing else I need to do after signing up for the Groupon?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark- Once you have clicked the “Buy” button and entered in your shipping information, you have officially bought the subscription. There is no need to call. It should be delivered in 2-3 weeks. Enjoy!
Anne M. @ Groupon
I would like to buy 2 of these groupons and have the newspaper delivered at two different addresses. How do I go about this?

Mark G.- I would suggest buying the deal two separate times and enter in two separate shipping addresses each time. If you have a problem doing that, please email support@groupon.com and they can help.
Enjoy!
Anne M. @ Groupon
Does this apply to new subscriptions only? How does it work if you already have a WP subscription? Thanks.
I’m considering doing this Sunday only deal but still not clear on if/how the Saturday coupon insert shows up?
Other comments: I live in an apartment. Last year I got WP every day for awhile, and it was at my door every morning.
I had an introductory offer and when it ended, there was no trouble terminating the service. They did continue delivering papers an extra few days after I put in the stop order, but I wasn’t charged for them.
I purchased this but assumed that you choose your shipping address. It seems that it is automatically sent to the billing address for the credit card used to purchase the groupon. How do I change the address it is shipped to???
also, I bought this via the groupon app on my iPhone. Maybe that is why it didn’t allow me to enter my shipping address? Regardless, how do I change it?
Thanks for all the quick answers Anne! I didn’t even have to ask any questions :)
Same question as a few above – I currently have a Sunday only subscription to the Post, would love to continue it for only $10.00, but it runs for several more months. Will this serve to extend my current subscription longer or will I start getting two papers per week?
If I live in an apartment building and have a key-lock mailbox, how does this groupon work? I would love to purchase it, but if it will get dropped at the door of building, I’m afraid it would get taken by someone else. Can you please help?

Hello All-
Just to clarify the coupon pak is part of this Sunday home delivery Groupon.
Steven R. – I am sorry you are having trouble putting in your address via i phone. I could suggest that you email support@groupon.com and let then know you would like to purchase the deal and are having issues entering your address. They will be happy to help!
Kara B. – Unfortunately, this will not serve to extend your current subscription. Sorry!
C’Anna K. – My suggestion would be to alert your building of your Groupon purchase so that they are aware and will make certain that you receive your paper.
Enjoy!
Anne M. @ Groupon
C’Anna — in my experience with apartment buildings, the paper deliverer comes in the building and leaves the paper outside the subscriber’s door.
I accidentally purchased two instead of one.
How can I change my order before it is processed??

Alecia G. – Please email support@groupon.com and explain that you accidentally purchased two. They will be able to help.
Anne M. @ Groupon
C’Anna – I have had a subscription to the Post before and live in a secure apartment building. The delivery person did NOT come inside the building and leave the paper at my door. They left it outside the building (and it was taken a few times).
Do you go by the address or the person name subscribing for the 30 day rule. If the previous tenant in my apt had Post, assume this will not be considered given the same address.
@ Linda S. – You’ve probably never seen a paper delivery person getting out their car because you’re still fast asleep in your nice warm bed. Delivering papers is a thankless job…but hey, what do you care? You’re likely one of those nightmare customers that complains if it’s not perfectly on your front step. A delivery person is out there at 3am, handling, bagging and tossing hundreds of papers despite what the weather is like, and let me tell you the pay isn’t that great either.
@ Mallory – if your building is secure how the heck is the delivery person supposed to get in? Should they call you at 3am so you can buzz them in?! They are supposed to (and will) deliver to your front door in apartment buildings if they can get in (and for larger buildings they sometimes have multiple customers in the building).
Actually, with the permission of the front office, I gave them the code to the front of the building several times and they said they would deliver to my front door, and still didn’t.
I’m not buying the deal unless it’s delivered to me in my bed on a silver platter with the sports and coupons sections removed and the paper boy squeezes me fresh OJ

If you buy two, can you get 40 weeks? :-)
We should be aware of this

The website keeps telling me that I already have an account and to sign in, even though I AM signed in! It won’t let me purchase one. Oh well, I give up!

Hello Ronia – Please don’t give up! This is a fantastic deal. Simply e-mail support@groupon.com and alert them of your difficulty and they will help. Enjoy the paper!
Anne M. @ Groupon
What’s up with the website not supporting secure signins and card entry? Eek!
- PLEASE ANSWER ******
How do we contact Washington Post to let them know if and when we want to cancel?
How do I “activate” my subscription? Or does simply purchasing the Groupon do this for me and the paper will just start to come?
Elizabeth E.—-202-334-6100
I purchased the coupon. Now, will the paper arrive at my door step. Or, now do I have to actually “Subscribe” on the Washington Post website?
Please advise. This has not been explained very well.
I have the same question as the other person:
I purchased the coupon. Now, will the paper arrive at my door step. Or, now do I have to actually “Subscribe” on the Washington Post website?
Please advise. This has not been explained very well.
@Jeremy H: If you scroll up, Anne M from Groupon said all we have to do is sit back and the paper will be delivered to the address we entered for shipping.
@Mallory: In my apartment building, those who subscribe to the Post sometimes have their papers delivered just inside the main entrance to our building and other times, they are delivered on the front step (outside). The carrier in our neighborhood marks the plastic bag protecting newspaper with the apartment number, so that helps eliminates confusion (and hopefully helps with people accidentally swiping the papers!).
I purchased it using my iPhone app and was not prompted to provide a shipping/mailing address as was suggested above. Please advise.
Anne:
Iemailed groupon support and they told me to contact the Washington Post for my problem. I recently called them and explained my problem (similar to Heather K’s) and they told me to call back in 2 weeks because my name and information wasn’t in their database. If this issue is not sorted out, or they don’t receive my information in their database, will I be entitled for a full refund?
Hi Anne — I received confirmation that my groupon was purchased & I appreciate the paper may mot start arriving until this coming Sunday (or even the Sunday after that). Is there a way to confirm that WaPo has received my groupon and has opened an account? (I wouldn’t normally ask, but the expiration date on the groupon was only two days after it was offered.) Dan
I just got a delivery today, early Sunday edition I thought. But it was just the circulars, mags, and comics. No newspaper. Does it come separate? This groupon was for the whole Sunday Newspaper right?

I have the opposite problem as Laura: I didn’t get the coupons/comics—I just got the Sunday paper!
I have the same problem—I got the paper, but no coupons. I want coupons or a refund! The Groupon said it included over $100 in coupons!
I ordered the paper but have never got anything. Is there something I am to do to confirm? Or a number to call? Its been over a week and nothing….
Please help.
Something I can offer for the good of the order: Home deliveries of Sunday papers are often done in two waves, circulars, coupons, funnies, WP magazine, Parade, etc., are delivered on Saturdays, while the front page, outlook, metro, sports, etc. are delivered Sundays. It’s done this way to ease the load on the carriers and the distribution trucks that support them. Completely normal.

I’m aware of the two-part delivery. Hence my surprise when I got part 2 (the newspaper on Sunday) but not part 1 (the comics/coupon pack on Saturday).

Groupon just referred me to the Washington Post. Let’s hope WaPo doesn’t point me back to Groupon.
I have a feeling this could be a doozy to resolve.

I haven’t even received the email I usually do to “confirm” my Groupon purchase, but it shows in my Groupon account when I log in.
I don’t know where y’all live, but I stopped my Sunday delivery in Fairfax because neighbors kept swiping my paper, either in parts or the whole thing. So that could be a factor…
One issue I came across: I got my paper on Sunday but the TV Week wasn’t there, but I chalked it up to a fluke. Then I get an email from the Post today which mentions that TV Week is not included unless you call the Post (202-334-6100) and request it… for an extra 15¢ per week. It’s pretty annoying that the deal didn’t say anything about that, especially since TV Week was about half the reason I signed up for it. I guess I’ll be forking over another $3 for this deal….
I received a bill from my paper carrier for $10, and it includes a thank you for signing up for “..our special offer”.
Groupon already has my $10 – why am I being billed again?
David L, I have the same problem; I looked at my account online and it shows a $10 bill.
I purchased the paper, and now will be moving, WAPO doesn’t have me as the recipient of this deal, can’t find me in the database, said to call back on wednesday, would have expected the deal to start already, getting lots of run around, how do we reference this deal with WAPO? do I use the grpn number I see when I view my account?
Got my first paper yesterday! Great Deal!

I was expecting my first paper yesterday, but it never came. I live in NW, and my address is a bit tricky to find… Who can I talk with about this?
Have not received mine yet either. Hoping this won’t reduce the number of weeks I receive it.
i also emailed my carrier about the payment problem and he said he would check into it as well.
i heard again from him today, and he apologized for the whole thing. notice of the payment finally found it’s way through their system to him. all was handled very professionally.
so i say no harm no foul !!! and i’ve already received two issues…
3 Sundays later and I still haven’t received the paper. Groupon is not very responsive in getting the issue rectified either. Very disappointed in Groupon!
My online WAPO account shows a payment of $10 is past due….Groupon charged me though….
I’m in the same boat as Kathleen L. – no paper received. Just called the Washington Post at 202-334-6100 and notified them. Ask for a supervisor, or the representative will not be familiar with the deal, and try rather to sell you additional promotions. The supervisor stated they were “notifying the distributor” to make sure I will get delivery this Sunday, and he said he was “filing a complaint.” At my request, they also extended the deal since crediting my account is not an option due to the purchase method using the Groupon deal. So, in other words, since (hopefully!) my paper delivery will start this Sunday, August 29th, my delivery will be for 20 weeks starting from this Sunday. If I don’t receive the paper, then he told me to call back Sunday and they will “escalate” this. So, fingers crossed!
I received my first paper on 8/15, but did not receive a paper on 8/22. I’ve also been unable to set up my account online with the Post as I don’t have an account number.
Same question as a few others, sorry if I missed the response. I received a bill from Washington Post saying I had a payment of $10 past due. Groupon already has my money, does it take a while to make it through to the Post?
How do we sign up for the online subscriber services without an account number? I’d like to put the delivery on hold while on vacation….and not be automatically resubscribed for the rest of my life…
I got on this offer and up to this date I still have not received any of the paper.
I had not received a paper as well. I e-mailed Groupon, and they responded with an e-mail and a number for The Post’s circulation department: Here is their email address Homedelivery@washpost.com and their phone # 202 334 6100.
I called and they said that I should receive a paper this Sunday and they also credited my account.
I never received the paper either. Called today and they said they would resolve the issue and make sure I get this Sunday and going forward (so 20 weeks starting on Sunday). We shall see.
This deal has been a total cluster. First referred to the Post, then back to Groupon….My guess is that it is the Post’s fault. They are not know for their customer service…We’ll see if I ever get this paper.
Similar to above it has been a month and still not one paper delivered. I have called WaPo twice to report the missing papers. They “file a complaint with the distributor” but still no papers…..
I still have not received this for my mom. She has waited way over the alloted time. Please can you help. I called them and they assured me it would start. And that was three Sundays ago.
I never received my paper either. Mine was never resolved either. When I contacted Groupon they told me I was suppose to register with the Post, but I never saw a link for that? nor was I contacted to do so. I’m very confused, and very displeased.
If anyone get’s an answer on this, I’d love to hear!
Still haven’t received a newspaper…..

So does this mean if you currently subscribe to weekend papers you can still sign u? (yes, i read the fine print . . . 0
