Choose from Four Options

  • $29 for a 1.5-hour grilling class for one (a $65 value)
  • $49 for a 3-hour grilling class for one (a $120 value)
  • $55 for a 1.5-hour grilling class for two (a $130 value)
  • $95 for a 3-hour grilling class for two (a $240 value)

Workshop subjects include Surf and Turf, Meat Primer, and Pizza on the Grill. During each workshop, the instructor covers cooking skills such as preparing fish, making meat marinades, and using pizza stones. Up to 22 students gather around the prep area for firsthand ganders at the food preparation and to nibble on the samples that are offered off the grill throughout the class. The 3-hour classes are held 1 p.m.–4 p.m. on Saturdays at the Warehouse Discount Center in Agoura Hills or Burbank. The 1.5-hour classes are held 7 p.m.–8:30 p.m. on Thursdays in Agoura Hills only.

Chef Craiger Van Zee started his grilling career at age 12. Now, after 40 years in the food and beverage industry, Chef Craiger has become a strong proponent of the saying "practice makes perfect." Through To Grill or Not to Grill, the chef has passed his hard-won cooking experience to more than 2,500 students. Chef Craiger smoothly divulges tips and advice to classes with cooking demonstrations and field trips to the mystical talking spatula. By posting weekly members-only videos on his website and holding online question-and-answer sessions, he helps at-home chefs prepare perfectly cooked meats.
