As children grow up, they must learn that money doesn't grow on trees, dinner doesn't make itself, and real dogs are awful at basketball. Let kids be kids with this Groupon.

On Friday, September 27, through Saturday, September 28, dozens of characters both historical and animated swoop in on Jellystone Park Resort. Kids become characters too by crafting capes, masks, and hats, and they discover new powers in yoga and Latin dance workshops. In the 12th annual installment of this charity-focused weekend, the fun coalesces around the theme Build Your Character. The festival will also host a variety of other activities appropriate for all ages, from mini golf to scavenger hunts.

Two dozen musical performances take the stage over the weekend, including roots reggae outfit Aaron Kamm and the One Drops, the folk- and bluegrass-infused Old Salt Union, and jazz-funk ensemble Rhythm Section Road Show. Yogi Bear will also be roaming the grounds, so parents are encouraged to pack snacks in coolers but avoid picnic baskets.

For 12 years, Tapestry of Community Offerings (TOCO) has delighted children, parents, and passing wildlife with its music festivals, all while raising money and awareness for important community organizations. Profits raised by the family festivals helps TOCO with its direct-service programs, such as providing free clothing to families in need and sponsoring youth summer camps. TOCO also supports several other community organizations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Helping Hands Food Pantry, and the Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois.
