Can they work the entire time on cleaning the kitchen (stove, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, countertops, etc.?
Just to confirm — there is no minimum amount of time needed to purchase beyond the amount of the groupon, right? In other words, they will come to your house for three hours for $49 and there is no additional cost, right?

I was just looking at the groupon and it shows that you only service certain areas of Queens. This includes 11372, 11374, 75… However I live at 11370. Is there any way your services would come to my location?
If you live in Queens and your zip is not listed, please call the company. I just did and they added 11365. This looks like just what I was looking for and to be able to try them first at these prices is terrific.
Extra Fees Question…
If you live in one of the service areas listed on the Groupon there is no travel fee.
There are no required extra fees, however I should mention how we handle supplies. Supplies are generally provided by the client. Prior to your service you will be sent a list of recommended supplies to have available for us. If you choose, we can provide the supplies for an additional fee. This option is not that common since our list of recommended supplies is not unusual and are available in most homes.

1. Yes, we service all of Brooklyn
2. For those who prefer to to provide their own supplies we have a couple of options. Complete supplies and a vacuum can be rented for $45, and you may purchase a kit with tools and cleaning agents for $65 (no vacuum).
3. Yes, we do offer Saturday and Sunday appointments, however these appointments book very fast and space is limited. You may need to reserve several weeks in advance for those days of the week.
Windows – Yes, your Groupon is good for 3 hours of cleaning service and you can determine what things are most important to you while we are there.
Hoboken – Yes we can service that area with a travel fee.

The Groupon says: that “Cleaning supplies not included”. I’ve read other reviews that indicate that the cleaning service will bring their own materials. Could you please clarify exactly what is or is not provided?
To answer a couple things from above…
Extra Hours – If you wish to purchase additional hours, you can do so for $29.95/hour. If you are interested in additional appointments or other services we also have some great value packages.
Supplies – The standard for Todya’s Maid service has always been for the clients to provide the cleaning supplies; It allows us to pass on the savings to you when we don’t have to deliver large supply kits with the maid. We do not require anything unusual outside of normal household supplies. However, in the rare instance that someone needs us to provide the supplies we can do for the rental or purchase fees listed above. Unfortunately we are not able to rent just the supplies without the vacuum becasue of delivery costs.
Tips – We have no recommended tip policy and tips range from $0-$100, and are completely up to you.

What’s the deal? The deal is taxes, insurance, training and efficiency. In all seriousness if you shop around you will see that we provide New York’s best value in licensed, bonded and insured companies. We perform over 20,000 cleanings a year with hand picked, skilled, and trained workers.
Could you list a sample of the supplies that a client is expected to provide? i.e. do you expect the client have a specific mop, or cleaner, or the maid will work with what the client has.

How many people come to clean? Also, I have a 1 bedroom, 1 bath apartment in manhattan – 550 square feet. What areas can you clean thoroughly in 3 hours?

3. We generally send one person at a time to clean, and your Groupon is good for one person for 3 hours. The workload and what can be performed in 3 hours varies a lot from home to home so I would not venture to guess without seeing the home. However there are many 1 Bath/1 BR homes that would not be unreasonable to complete in 3 hours.
I used a cleaning service a girlfriend referred me to and although they are $71/hr it took them a little less than an hour and a half to clean my 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment (approx 900 sq feet). I was told the next time it would only take them an hour. BUT keep in mind there were 3 of them which is why it was so quick and they were EXCELLENT. And they service all of Queens and Long Island FOR SURE, not sure about other locations b/c I didn’t ask. And they brought their own cleaning supplies.
P.S. My girlfriend has a 4 bedroom ranch style house with a full apartment on the lower level and it never takes them 3 hours to clean her home. So I’m not sure what’s so great about this deal.
Professional Organizing – Unfortunately that service is a separate service that is not included with the Groupon special offer.

I read a review on yelp that you charge extra if a pet lives in the apartment? Is this true? I would take my dog out of the apartment if it bothered the cleaner. Please let me know the case. I have a very small dog.

Inside Oven – Yes, they can. Because of the activation time of some oven cleaning agents/cycles you will need to organize this ahead of time when you book your appointment. At that time you will be given instructions for preparation.
Pet: The Groupon is for hourly service so there is no pet fee.

Cleaning and Handyman at the same time – Yes, it should be possible depending on availability. We have over 70 staff members with our company so we are likely to be able to coordinate times if the work areas don’t overlap.

I just took a look at your suggested list of cleaning items. I only use natural, non-toxic cleaners in my home, but I have the equivalent of most of these. Also, does the color of the cleaning rags really matter? I have a ton, but they aren’t white. I don’t use animal products, so I’m not buying a feather or wool duster. I also don’t have a vacuum, but I don’t see this on the list. Is that something you could provide?
I just looked at your list and notice that you recommend commercial/industrial brands- what about environmentally friendly cleaners? We use homemade cleaning solutions in our home (diff ones for multi-purpose, window and glass, etc) with a base of baking soda and/or vinegar. Do you charge more or not work with such things? Also, what about swiffer-type equipment? I just don’t want to run out and buy all-new stuff to clean the home.

Suggested Supplies/Equipment – The list we provide is for suggested supplies only. If you do not have those items we will make due with what you have, but those are the items that our people are trained on. Green products are fine. You should be specific about what you would like used on what surfaces, since personal recipes vary. The color of the rags is not important in terms of color, its just that many bulk rags (like red auto rags) leave linen pills everywhere and the cleaning is not as efficient since we have to spend time going over things twice. A dust/light mopping type mops like you mentioned are ok for a mop, but we prefer a regular mop so we can get a deeper clean.
Zip 11423 & 11364 – Both of these zip codes are outside of our service area, but we can service them for a $25.00 trip fee.
Vacuums – If you have carpet that requires a vacuum then you will need to provide it, or you may rent one with our supply kit. If you just have tile or wood flooring, then a broom and a mop are adequate.

Hand Scrubbing Floors – The Groupon is for 3 hours for one person, and you get to choose the cleaning tasks that you prefer. Hand scrubbing takes longer then a deep scrub with a good mop, but if you have specialty surfaces or a unique situation it may be your preference, and that is ok. We can do all of those things listed on request.

Floors scrubbed by hand – I have an update for the floors scrubbed by hand that I don’t think I mentioned. Be sure that if you are going to ask for something a little different like that, that you mention it at the time of booking so we can select the most appropriately skilled person to do the job. That way we will arrive prepared and ready to do what you need.
Buying a second Groupon – I spoke with Groupon and they are changing the configuration to make it possible to buy a second Groupon. I am not sure when it will be done, but they are working on it now.

Stupid question – I’ve never used a cleaning service so I was curious.. Am I to remain in the apartment during the cleaning? I feel it would be awkward – do I just sit and read a book while they scrub my floors? Or can I run errands after letting them in and then come back before the 3 hours? Good question! All of our people are fully background checked so you can feel comfortable trusting them with your home. Some people are home while the cleaning takes place, and others (most really) go out.

No, I believe the deal does not run out until midnight, so you should be good. I believe Groupon’s FAQ says it can take up to 24 hours. Check with customer service just to be sure. Under the Contact Us link on this Groupon site.

Okay, this sounds like a pretty good deal, but I have a couple of questions. 1st off: How long will it take to make an appointment? 6 weeks ahead of time? 2: What do they not do as far as cleaning? I have a small studio with a very bad linoleum kitchen floor. I have tried everything and nothing can take of the dirty nasty film on it, so, I cover it with area rugs. What can they do with that?

Scheduling an appointment – As with most Groupons the service is subject to availabiltity (it would be pretty tough to do 1000 cleanings in one day :), but we do have a large staff of over 70 cleanng associates to help with that. The best thing to do is to contact the office right away to book your time. There may be a wait, but we will do our best.

I live in “upstate Manhattan”, zip code 10034, 218th St. & Seaman Avenue in Inwood. Just want to be positive your service comes here. Many services say “manhattan” but exclude Inwood because we’re almost in the Bronx. Am I in your service area?
Can people please post your reviews about this service on Yelp after you work with them. I’m looking for a cleaning service, and there are only 16 reviews of this place on Yelp which are either really good (which is suspicious) or really bad, so I’m nervous about using them. I don’t mind paying full price later on as long as a place really is worth it. Thanks!
One of our biggest concern when hiring anyone to work in our home is safety of our home as well as us. How can your company afford to hire qualified maids and do background checks with the rate you are charging? If groupon charges your company 50% of the offer price that means your company is essentially charging less that $25 for 3 hours($8.33 per hour). Before I buy I would like to know the screening procees if any you do to the maids you hire. Thanks
Good question. Background checks are performed on every person before they are hired. We have a very trustworthy crew. As for your cost analysis I see your concern. We participate in promotional/marketing activities like Groupon from time to time where we have an opportunity to be introduced to some new folks. FYI, everybody, I just called to schedule and the first time they were able to offer me was APRIL 8TH! Six weeks away. By then, the vermin will have taken over and enslaved me and my roommates. a customer service question — isn’t groupon a way to obtain new customers? I was told that since I had used groupon, there really wasn’t anything they could do for me. Why would I be inclined to use this service again?

This groupon is a scam. This morning was the SECOND appointment I had made to use my Today’s Maids groupon and the maids never showed up AGAIN. I would like a refund for this. I waited around for 45 minutes and was late to work AGAIN. Clearly this is a bad company that groupon is partnering with. How do I get my money refunded??
I purchased this groupon and was able to schedule an appointment for this coming Monday, 4/26. I am still waiting for the 3 e-mails I am supposed to receive prior to the services date detailing what supplies I need and other information. Hope to receive it today. I have a 3 bed/ 1 & 1/2 bath co-op so I will let everyone know what the person was able to clean in that time and the quality of work. My cleaner is here as I write. I had no problem making my appt, and I got an email which referred me to the website where all the forms are. My cleaner didn’t know about the list of recommended items, and was fine with all I had. In addition to a confirmation email two days ago, the housecleaner called me last night to confirm the time and the subway directions. She got off the train about 10 minutes late, but called me immediately. So far the kitchen looks great. I got the first email the same day as the appt, so I recommend calling them again just to make sure all is good. I"m wondering if the service, like the organic direct folks are a bit overwhelmed with the response and took on more than they could. But for my experience so far, I’m really pleased and would recommend them. Next time they may want to put a limit on how many they sell so they can handle the load.
My cleaner person was good. He was courteous and dilligent the whole 3 hours. In that time he was able to clean 1 & 1/2 baths, kitchen, living room, dining area and 1 bedroom. The house smeeled clean and look clean as well. The price (even with the deal ) is pretty steep since I’m sure I could have some do the same (and maybe more complete job without restrictions) in the same time here in NYC. I’m still gald I was able to try it out for the 1st time. Thanks
Not very thrilled so far w/the service and no one has come yet. Tried to make an appointment months ago, but couldn’t get one. They were apparently too busy w/all the groupons. Called last night and got one for today, but something unexpected came up. I tried to reschedule w/4 hours notice, but they won’t let me. Said I’ll just lose my groupon if I can’t be here. Never had problems with other places with enough notice. Things happen that are out of our control. After this groupon, I have no intention of using them again. Also, was supposed to receive an email w/cleaning products that I’d need and never received that either. Hope the cleaning isn’t as bad as the customer service.
Spoke with a new person, Donna, who was much nicer than the guy I spoke to. Apparently there’s a 48 hour cancellation window, which the person who booked my appointment YESTERDAY decided not to tell me. If an appointment is being booked within the cancellation window that should really be made clear to the customer. Apparently it’s in the email that I never received. Which wouldn’t help anyway, because it was already booked by then! Unfortunately for them, this was to obtain new customers and they certainly lost the opportunity with me.
Can we get our money back from Groupon if they do not show up? I received an email stating that the person may show up an hour early or an hour late. So, I’m supposed to leave FIVE hours free for someone who may NOT even show up at ALL? Some of you even scheduled this five hour segment twice apparently.
If the person doesn’t show, I want my money back, period. I wonder if I can get my credit card company to fight this, if I have a no show.
