Small museum, but knowledgeable staff in a medium I appreciate greatly. Looking forward to the upcoming Wonder Woman 75th Anniversary exhibit!
  • Museum dedicated exclusively to cartoons
  • Rotating hands-on exhibits
  • Discounts for annual members

Cartoons are the words our eyes don't hate and our brains actually want to read. See the action happen with today's Groupon to ToonSeum. Choose between two options:

  • For $13, you get two fun packs and two admissions (a $26 value).
  • For $25, you get a one-year family membership (a $50 value). As one of the few U.S. museums solely dedicated to the cartoon arts, ToonSeum animates minds of all ages with comic- and art-enriched exhibits that rotate every two months, such as the current Superheroes: Icons and Origins. Cartoonist and executive director Joe Wos hosts everyone from puppeteers to comic-book sketchers who conjure characters before the eyes of children, moms, and Toontown escapees dodging villainous judges. Children ignite creative sparks at hands-on drawing tables while parents relive childhood simplicity by way of ink and paper prints.

In addition to admission, each fun pack bundles together a handful of experience-enhancing gewgaws, such as two Marvel mini big head figures. Four postcards enable long-distance bragging to loved ones, while two buttons and two stickers declare toon adoration to casual onlookers and spy satellites alike.

Family memberships grant two adults and up to three children to unlimited admissions to the museum for a year and allows them to zap their way into members-only events and signings. Families also garner 15% off workshops and gift-shop purchases, 25% off all limited-edition prints, and two additional guest passes, which may be used at any time on friends, grandma, or Gargamel.

About The ToonSeum

Perched in the Steel City's Cultural District downtown and staffed by passionate volunteers, the nonprofit ToonSeum pays homage to the art of the cartoon with rotating exhibits, kids' classes, and hands-on entertainment for all ages. Exhibitions have ranged from collections of original work to special displays honoring artists such as Pennsylvania native, Keith Haring. Contributing to the museum's ongoing educational mission, local cartoonists often donate their own time to teach fun-filled workshops or share the bleak realities of living with a talking cat.

Toonseum was actually one of the most coolest places I've been to in Pittsburgh, I feel like it's not known well enough, there isn't too much to see in the museum, but the owner has so many stories to tell about his life and others that you could be there for hours!

Wonderful place for a stop. You can get a nice gallery experience in a short time. More than just an exhibit, though. Nice details and terrific art.
