Plants, mankind’s greatest enemy, are finally on the ropes thanks to global warming. Teach your children how to hunt the last of these enormous nitrogen junkies by observing them in captivity with today's Groupon, which gets you admission to the Tower Hill Botanic Garden, located in Boylston. Choose between two options:

  • For $35, you get a one-year family membership (a $70 value).
  • For $5, you get one adult admission (a $10 value).

Operated by the historic Worcester County Horticultural Society, the Tower Hill Botanic Garden offers 132 acres of lush gardens featuring Cary Award–winning plants and forest trails to roll around in and cartwheel about. Bird- and butterfly-buffs can track the be-winged creatures' movements from the Wildlife Garden's human-sized bird-viewing station, identifying species from the checklist. The gazebo overlooking the Wildlife Refuge Pond doubles as a platform to observe the marshy surroundings and a station for nature-lovers to ponder the beauty of local fauna and whether or not they turned off their Large Hadron Collider when they left the house.

An 18th-century-style greenhouse called the Orangerie holds a variety of citrus trees, including dancy tangerines and persian limes, which provide a warm oasis throughout frosty winter months. Those seeking a decidedly less tropical experience can cross-country ski and snowshoe along marked woodland trails, or behold the panoramic view of Mount Wachusett to the west.

Families opting to bind themselves to the garden through the ties of membership are granted unlimited access to the garden for two adults and all associated children under 19. Other benefits of membership include advance notice for all special events; discounts at the garden's store The Shop at Tower Hill; and reciprocal privileges at more than 100 gardens, arboreta, and overgrown plant-controlled cities nationwide.

  • I visited the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in November 2006. What a treat! Located on 132 acres, the outside grounds contain over 350 labeled shrubs and trees. – sedum37, TripAdvisor

Tower Hill Botanic Garden

In Boylston, 132 acres rest untouched by modern society, where warm breezes send flower petals dancing and sidewalks give way to winding trails. Tower Hill Botanic Garden envelops visitors in fields of green grass, tall trees, and colorful flowers across both outdoor areas and indoor garden spaces. Staff members educate guests on the gardens’ various flora and fauna in classes and programs calibrated for students of every age. Special events, such as the African Violet Show, shine the spotlight on even more species of flowers, much like the wildflower-identification portion of standard driving tests.

The Groupon Guide to: Makeup

Faces already look great because they're the most detailed part of the body, but they can be made even fancier with the help of goo and paste applied directly to the skin. Put on these products to achieve a fully lacquered face:

Lip Gloss: Gloss is designed to make lips as slick and shiny as laminated paper, which is widely considered one of the world's sexiest forms of paper.

Lipstick: Lipstick only comes in the color red because it replicates the look of lips stained from eating delicious berries—the bloodiest part of any plant. When pressed against a surface, your lipstick mark can substitute for a signature or photo ID.

Mascara: In nature, eyelashes are used to capture bugs and bits of debris for the eye to eat. Paint lashes black with mascara to ensnare the greatest prey of all—another person's gaze.

Foundation: Foundation is a face-colored cream that you smooth on top of your face. By perfectly matching your foundation to your skin, you can cover up any dark circles, blemishes, or other people's faces that might have been grafted onto your skin.

Are facial features just fancy body details?
