Union Street Dental Care

Union Street Dental Care's Dr. Stanley Dintcho, DDS, has seen multiple medical technologies come and go in the last four decades. But the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) stands out, as it allows him to treat periodontal disease with unparalleled precision and convenience. Dr. Dintcho told Marianne Favro of the NBC Bay Area news "it's the most impressive new technology he's seen in 35 years."

During the treatment, Dr. Dintcho passes a fiber-optic laser along the gum line to vaporize decay while leaving surrounding tissue intact. Because the tool is minimally invasive and very thin—about the thickness of three human hairs, or the dental floss used by leprechauns—the procedure involves less discomfort, fewer hours in the dentist's chair, and faster recovery times than traditional scalpel-and-suture procedures. He completes the process by cleaning the root surfaces with ultrasonic waves and then sealing the area with a different laser setting. The procedure typically only requires one visit to complete, and patients usually return to work the same day.

As a complement to this innovative procedure, Dr. Dintcho rounds out his menu of services with preventive, cosmetic, and emergency treatments.
