It was great! Box came when you said, everything was yummy and edible. I just wish I could go through it quickly enough. Can you make a smaller box for single folks?
  • Selections change weekly
  • 15–18 produce types per box
  • Waived $25 registration fee for new customers

Humans used vegetables as crude hammers until one inquisitive soul licked a nail and realized it was delicious. Benefit from mankind’s curiosity with today’s Groupon: for $20, you get one original value box of produce, including shipping (a $39.98 total value), from Urban Organic, one of the country’s largest home-delivery services of organic produce and groceries.

Urban Organic delivers fruits and vegetables to most Tri-State area doorsteps year-round, with selections changing each week. Unlike grocery store chains that offer foods grown in abandoned subway tunnels, Urban Organic bulk-buys its produce, groceries, and dairy goods from organic farmers’ cooperatives, distributors, and individual farmers. Original value boxes, delivered throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties every Thursday, contain 15–18 types of produce, with one to three pieces of each item. Among recently included edibles were red leaf lettuce, russet potatoes, green chard, and hamlon oranges (you can see the current week's offerings online). Groupon customers who decide to sign up for future weekly deliveries will also have their $25 lifetime registration fee waived.

About Urban Organic

Starting at two o'clock in the morning, trucks head out from Urban Organic's headquarters carrying boxes of organic, local produce to drop at doorsteps from the Bronx to Brooklyn and far-off lands such as Long Island and Connecticut. Each box holds a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, such as apples, chard, arugula, and bananas, each certified organic by the USDA. Since the selection rotates weekly, an included newsletter introduces the produce to families with handy tips on storage, cooking, and conversation starters.

The handy subscription service visits each of its delivery zones once a week so urbanites have easy access to organic, locally grown meals. Families can also take advantage of lower price tags than those at local grocery stores or black markets, since Urban Organic buys in bulk from organic farmers' cooperatives and distributors.

Nice variety. Good quality - though they don't seem to grow a bunch of the stuff locally.

Too difficult getting service. Veg not as fresh as they should have been.

The registration and sign up process was confusing for Groupon purchasers (had to email customer service to confirm the correct process) and very manual - should be as simple as entering my groupon number, setting my delivery address and picking a delivery date. The delivery itself was great - good variety of foods although the plums were hard. They also could have been packaged better - everything was thrown together in a box and we had to separate into baggies in order to store.
