An experienced sommelier can suggest the perfect wine pairing for beef, poultry, or couples too scared to try kissing. Couple up with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $15 for a wine flight and cheese pairing for two (a $30 value)
  • $39 for a wine-and-food-pairing class with tasting for two (an $80 value)

During 45- to 60-minute classes, students sample four wines alongside food items with complementary flavors. Instructors will discuss the characteristics of each wine and how to determine which foods pair well with it and which do not. Classes usually take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., but more sessions may be added depending on demand. With the flight-and-pairing option, visitors sample Urban Wine Works' flight of the week—a selection of five wines that changes every Wednesday—and nibble on plates of carefully selected cheese.

Urban Wine Works

Urban Wine Works curates wines from across the world to fill the shelves of their shop and slosh into glasses in their tasting room. Frequent events highlight wines from regions such as southern France and southern Oregon or bring live music into the space. Sommeliers at the wooden bar also pour out a themed flight of the week featuring five related wines alongside a cheese plate. In addition, the shop stocks bottles from the owners' winery and vineyard, Bishop Creek Cellars, which grows pinot-noir grapes on pinot-noir rootstock for a purer expression of the grape's flavor.
