Vantage Point Equestrian

A certified Level II equestrian with the American Riding Instructor’s Association, voted a top-50 instructor in 2007 by Riding Instructor magazine, Brittany Pledger has the resumé to back up her position as chief instructor at Vantage Point Equestrian. At the beginning of her riding career, Brittany learned to ride by instinct alone, reading her horses’ behaviors rather than awaiting indecipherable hoof-written postcards. Seeing the value in this sort of foundation, she teaches riders of all levels to develop a feel for the horse and to recognize its emotions and body language. She leads lessons throughout Vantage Point's 10 acres of pristine grassland and beneath the azure roof of the center's main facility. Her ultimate aim is to prepare students for competition in national AA-rated shows, specializing in the disciplines of hunt seat equitation, hunters, and jumpers.

The Groupon Guide to: Valentine's Day Leftovers

For some people, the most difficult thing about Valentine's Day is deciding what to do with all the leftovers. Here are some suggestions of what to do with the day-after detritus:

  • Melt down chocolates and put them in little ghost-shaped molds to start stocking up for Halloween.

  • Once roses start to wilt and dry out, use their thorns to make devil horns for a naughty dog or precocious toddler.

  • Diamond shavings are glitter.

  • Recycle a Valentine's Day card by crossing out the part that says "Lisa, I will always love you. You are my angel and my strength" and writing "Deepest sympathies on the anniversary of your terrible comeuppance!"

  • Leftover candy hearts? More like delicious croutons!

Sweet croutons, this salad is good!
