Commonly Asked Questions

Does the Existing Customer Groupon include equipment? If not, how much is equipment for each visit?

Kate H. asked 8 months, 15 days, 4 hours, and 8 minutes ago - 1 answer

The 5 visit pass does not include equipment or instruction. Equipment is $6 per visit ($2 for harness $4 for shoes) Visits must all be used by one person

I have a 14 yr old who I would like to purchase this for. Can I purchase a total of two (one for myself as well). Then can we attend lesson and month membership together?

dgraney asked 8 months, 15 days, 3 hours, and 18 minutes ago - 1 answer

Carrie R.

Absolutely. This is a great way to hang out with your teen. The limits should say my buy 1 plus 5 more as gifts. Those "gifts" could be used for your 14 year old or other family members who wish to take the class with you.

Welcome to the Vertical Adventures Groupon. Let me just help clarify some awkward wording between the two offers. The first is for people 14 and older who have not been to VA before and do not know how to belay (hold the ropes) for someone else. You must email carrie@verticaladventuresohio.com to make your reservation for a class. Your membership will begin the day of your class. If you have children email that same address and I will explain how we can accommodate this. The second is for people who already climb in the gym. You get a 5 visit pass. If you do not have equipment there is an extra charge per visit. These visits can NOT be shared between customers. Instruction is NOT included.

More Questions and Answers

I am an experienced rock climber, but have not been to VA before. What would you recommend: Should I purchase the 20$ intro/month membership offer or the 25$ 5-time visit pass? I know how to belay and have my own equipment. Would I be able to buy both options for myself? Thank you!

kristin asked 8 months, 12 days, 3 hours, and 9 minutes ago - 1 answer

Carrie R.

Everyone who climbs here regardless of past experience must take class to belay. If you have never been in before you can either buy the first option and follow the directions for scheduling a lesson and then you will begin your month. If you will climb less frequently you can buy the second option but you will have to pay for and take the $29 lesson first and then start your visits after your initial week is over.

My husband would love this but I'm afraid someone else might get this for him for as a gift too. If he buys this groupon for himself and gets it for a gift can he use both?

Andrea A. asked 8 months, 15 days, 23 hours, and 28 minutes ago - 1 answer

Carrie R.

He can't use both but he could give one to you (or another friend) and you can climb together.

Not sure wich option to purchase. My kids have been here before - quite a while ago, but I have not. So are my kids considered past customers and I am not? Second question; is the $20 option transferable? ie, can it be shared by different persons? Thank you.

Barry M. asked 8 months, 15 days, 3 hours, and 17 minutes ago - 1 answer

Carrie R.

The existing customer refers to the lesson portion of the offer. If your kids are under 14 and would thus need you to belay for them then you should buy the first option. The membership portion of the offer would then go to your child. The membership is for one person. Really this whole offer is designed as one per person but this is how we will accommodate those with children.

On Belay? If I take the class with my child, is there a lower age limit then, for customers with accompanyment? I have a couple of youngsters of differing ages.

ed asked 8 months, 15 days, 3 hours, and 24 minutes ago - 1 answer

Carrie R.

Anyone can climb you must be 14 to take the lesson. If you wish to buy this for a child to climb you may take the lesson yourself and then the child would get to use the climbing membership portion of it. We do not recommend a membership for younger than 8.

my son is 13 is he allowed to use the five visit pass if he is not an existing customer?

Tina E. asked 8 months, 15 days, 4 hours, and 28 minutes ago - 1 answer

Carrie R.

He would need to have someone accompany him who would take the lesson to belay (hold the ropes) for him. The better option would be to buy the other offer and we would give an adult the lesson and he would get to use the month membership.
