When the hosts of the Today show held up a pair of W8FIT's workout pants, they seemed surprised at how heavy the fabric was. Despite their stylish appearance, the pants actually housed several hidden weights, which add resistance to workouts as well as everyday activities. This inventive design sprung from the mind of W8FIT founder Maya Kaminsky, an aerobics instructor who noticed something about her wardrobe: whether at the gym, out shopping, or hiding in an industrial meat locker, she was always in her workout gear. Inspired by this observation and a background in design (Maya holds a fashion merchandising degree from Kent State University), the fitness expert designed weighted women's workout clothes that effectively tone muscles as they're worn.

Available in quarter- or half-pound varieties, W8FIT's weights slip invisibly into the custom-designed pockets of tank tops, pants, and wrist cuffs. The weights’ flat, rectangular design allows them to nestle comfortably against the body, and a coating of protective powder keeps the metal from aggravating skin.

When not designing chic new workout clothes, Maya and her team reach out their perfectly toned arms to various charities. Every few months, they select a new color for their wrist cuffs and donate 50% of the proceeds to a chosen cause.
