Many scholars believe that Shakespeare's plays were the product of multiple authors, with suspected imposters including Christopher Marlowe, Francis Bacon, and the time-traveling ghost of David Mamet. Bounce bogus bards with today's Groupon to the Washington Shakespeare Company. Choose one of the following performances:

With a packed trophy case including multiple Helen Hayes Awards, the Washington Shakespeare Company defends the American theater vanguard with its lively, evocative production. During a one-night restaging recorded for the BBC, thespians at the Rosslyn Artisphere—including comedian and card-carrying thespian Stephen Fry—set slings and arrows to stun for "By Any Other Name: An Evening of Shakespeare in Klingon", augmenting the Bard's masterpieces with intergalactic lingo and a period-appropriate laser dog chorus. Stagekateers can also plumb emotional depths with performances of Juno and the Paycock, Sean O'Casey's tale of domestic turmoil set against the uncertainty of the Irish Civil War.

WSC Avant Bard

Established as the Washington Shakespeare Company in 1990, WSC Avant Bard is dedicated to updating classic theater for modern audiences, revitalizing well-worn drama with challenging interpretations. Under the leadership of newly appointed artistic director Tom Prewitt, the theater treats audiences to daring productions of established classics, new works, and little-known Shakespeare fan-fiction about him teaming up to fight crime with Queen Elizabeth I.
