For many transitional individuals in Los Angeles County, the struggle to secure stable housing, gain much needed work, and even communicate with loved ones can become impossible due to the inability to obtain phone service. Although pay phones may help with outgoing communication, potential employers or family members are largely unable to reach these individuals through public means. The Weingart Center Association enables transitional individuals—homeless men and women, financially struggling single parents, individuals escaping domestic violence, adults searching for work, veterans, and elderly and disabled individuals—to obtain help in stabilizing their daily lives and establishing self-sufficiency by providing transitional housing, case management, mental health treatment, and much more.
Homelessness severely hampers an individual's ability to maintain active communication, as they do not have a consistent phone number or answering service. The national Community Voice Mail (CVM) program enables those in need to receive a fully functional voice-mail service, wherein the owner can record a personal and professional greeting and check his or her messages from any touch-tone phone. The seven-digit phone number and answering service look and sound like any standard system, keeping the user's socioeconomic status confidential while allowing all callers to leave a message. Since its inception in 2001, CVM has provided more than 3,500 men and women in need with communication opportunities. Currently, 2,000 Los Angeles County citizens are participating in this vital service.
Join G-Team to help individuals in need obtain important phone service, keeping them in touch with employers, doctors, caseworkers, and family members. The Weingart Center’s goal of $500 will enable the association to provide voice-mail service to 50 homeless men, women, and families for six months, with each additional $10 donation providing another individual with six months of voicemail service.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
