Questions and Answers
I have been extremly happy with the service Wheeling Auto Center has provided me on my fleet of vans and trucks. I finally found a place that I can trust bringing my vehicles to and getting the work done right the first time, everytime.
My wife and I have been taking our cars to Wheeling Auto Center for 6 years. They are positively the best! The free loaner cars are always clean and run great.
DO you do synthetic oil change – i know it is much more expensive than regular oil. Is it included? if not do you offer discount on it?
I, too, am interested in synthetic oil and high performance oil filter. More than willing to pay the difference. Got a clue what it might be?
Car troubles never occur in your driveway. Our family cars never miss their maintenance services. WAC is GREAT!
Lena and Cynthia,
Yes, we offer synthetic oil changes at additional expense. The difference depends on the application. We would discount the oil change by 26.95 and perform the rest of the groupon. Please call or e mail the type of vehicle so I can more accurately answer your question.
How much extra for a 1996 Mercedes E 320?
Clara,
High performance filter and synthetics for your Mercedes will be an additional $59.95
David, I don’t ned synthetics on my Mercedes. How much more for regular oil change, tire rotation, and wipers?
Oops, sorry Clara. You’d be responsible for a few extra quarts of oil and the difference for the more expensive filter. I would guess less than $20

I purchased the fall package.
I have questions on the cost of following services for 2006 Hyundai Sonata.
1) Brake system flush
2) Replace both rear end brake rotors (disc)
thanks.
Anandamoy,
There are usually several options on every model that bring up questions when attempting to estimate repairs. When you drop your car off for the groupon service we will estimate out anything else when we get the proper information from the vehicle. Look forward to seeing you at the shop.
Do you work on the Toyota Prius?
Good Morning,
Yes, we do. Our technicians have taken many training classes on Hybrids. We are actually hosting an advanced training class on the Prius in October for other technicians.
Can someone tell me what additional features we are getting for $49.00? An oil change is about 30-35 normally so, why such a great deal for $49.00. I see the hand wash, ok, thats 10.00 in a parking lot of cubscouts. what is a comprehensive inspection? They tell you all you all the things you need done to your car?? Doesn’t an oil change tell you that? Help
Kelli,
A comprehensive vehicle inspection is an invasive inspection designed to evaluate the wear of your vehicle. It will identify any deficiencies and confirm any maintenance items that may be needed for the safe and reliable operation of your vehicle. In addition, it will also identify items that may need attention down the road. It’s kind of like giving your vehicle it’s annual physical examination. The groupon also includes a new front set of wiper blades and a tire rotation.
With an oil change the most your getting is a visual inspection and it may be by someone who does not understand the workings of the entire vehicle, only having been trained in the services that are offered. We are a full service automotive facility staffed by Master technicians.
WAC always takes great care of our cars. Besides the excellent service, we especially like the professional clean facilities. Certainly not your normal auto repair facility. Thanks WAC for the new tires on the minivan!!
not sure why this is considered a deal? Oil change at most places you can for $19.99(with a coupon) and generic wiper blades you can get installed for $20 as well… Seems like this ‘deal’ is $5 more than a normal consumer can get by looking at the weekly coupon ads.. Inspection is a code word for finding an issue to up charge the customer…
never been to wac, nor am getting the groupon, don’t live close. however…….. an inspection of your vehicle can be the difference between a belt change and a belt failure at 3 am, in the dead of winter (ever call for a tow truck during a winter snow storm???) or somewhere you do not want to be, thrown rods, transmission failure, the list goes on and on. primarily, if you do routine preventative maintenance as described in your vehicle owners manual, unexpected breakdowns can be prevented, of course that would mean actually having preventative maintenance done, which, let’s face it, keeps many a repair facility in business since we do not follow suggested maintenance schedules. why not have a comprehesive inspection done, oh say, BEFORE winter and save everyone a broken down vehicle clogging up our already stressed interstate system. anyone drive near chicago and see all the daily broken down vehicles? anyway with all that being said, if you don’t want the added service performed, don’t get the groupon and let it go. on second thought, I think I will go ahead and buy this groupon simply because of the added comprehensive inspection….. i am woefully behind the preventative maintenance schedule myself.
Boris, in addition to what Megan I had to say, I would suggest that the tire rotation in addition to the wipers and oil change would more than cover the $49! I am a regular customer of WAC and bought two of the Groupon’s. In my 40 years plus of automobile ownership, Wheeling Auto Center is the best service facility I have EVER used.
I have my own synthetic oil and filter I would like to use for the service, and windshield wipers that are kind of new. Will having this give me a discount or credit me for future service? What does the comprehensive test have other than brakes and electrical systems?
Not to be debbie downer or anything but I just got back from my chevy dealership and it’s $20 for a oil change, free car wash, fluids topped off along with a cursory inspection of my vehicle. I am sure this place is reputable but let’s be honest, anyone can write a review here and there is no way to validate how authentic the reviews are…they may even be written by the owner himself, not saying they are just saying it is impossible to rule the possibility out. personally i would never let anyone inspect my suv unless my car computer told me to or it was in the owners manual for maintenance. Not saying everyone agrees with me but since many groupons will sell many thousands in a day and this has been around for over 1 1/2 days i’d say many are as skeptical as i
Wheeling Auto Center is a first class automotive repair facility. I have used them on numerous occasions and recommended to my friends, to also use them. It is a clean, thorough and well run business. With advance planning, they provide a free loaner vehicle, and that has proven to be a valuable resource for me. They are conscientous marketers and always make followup phone calls to evaluate their performance.
If they are offering a discount on their services, I suggest you take advantage of it because it will prove to a great value
MANY MANY GROUPONS WILL SELL THOUSANDS IN ONE SINGLE DAY. THIS GROUPON HAS SOLD ONLY 150 IN ALMOST 2 DAYS. I FIND IT STRANGE THAT OUT OF THE 24 COMMENTS – 2 ARE BY ME, 7 BY DAVID, ONLY 9 COMMENTS BY PEOPLE WITH QUESTIONS BUT THE KICKER IS THAT IN THIS VERY SMALL GROUPON THERE ARE 7 SUPER POSITIVE COMMENTS BY “CURRENT CUSTOMERS”. THAT IS A SUPER HUGE % CONSIDERING HOW FEW OF THESE ARE SOLD. ON YELP REVIEWS ARE LESS THAN POSITIVE. EARLIER I WONDERED IF THE GLOWING REVIEWS WERE SHILLS. NOW I AM NO LONGER WONDERING
Hi Steve, 7 comments are by me (now 8) because I am the owner. I have not asked any of our customers to come on here and comment but I am happy they did. I have “advertised” as best i could on short notice so they could get in on the deal.
As far as if it’s a deal or not, to some yes. To others no and that’s O.K. We do not cater to all and those that think like Megan above (by the way, great comments, thanks) will find value in our service. To others like Steve they will never know what they are missing until they give us a try which may never happen.
Boris may not be able to find value in our facility and that’s ok. He may not want a professional to (code word here) “inspect” his vehicle nor does everyone want to know what their vehicles need to remain safe and reliable. (by the way, there is a difference between visual and invasive inspection).
Ariel, if you’d like to bring in your own oil and filter you may. The rules of Groupons are that they be used in one visit, so you could always buy one and use it later.
And finally, we did not think we would sell thousands of Groupons. Automotive service generally draws from 10-15 minutes away. We did not think we would attract many from beyond that distance even with the exposure on Groupon.
Thanks for your comments.
Dave as the owner of Wheeling Auto is very internet savvy with his marketing use of tools like demandforce which allows customers to provide feedback and the more feedback a business has it will show up in Google search. One Caveat with demandforce’s feedback service is that after a customer leaves a feedback on Demand Force, the business can remove any reviews the business deems “inaccurate.” That’s right! Business is a paying customers of Demand Force can selectively remove bad reviews from Demand Force and have consistently obtained 5 (or very close to 5 star) ratings on Demand Force’s platform.
If you dont believe me look at Wheeling Auto facebook page ‘reviews’ tab —all 5star reviews within a very short time frame.
The issue I have with this so called deal is that its not a deal… groupon is supposed to give group buying power so the average consumer will get close to 50% discount on something they cannot get on there own. Charging $49 for an oil change and wiper blades is not a deal that should be part of the daily groupons.
Thanks steve for your postings, it does really look like there are shills posting on behalf of this auto place. The way i read steve f’s posting is that he removed dave’s posts because he is the owner and the % of people asking questions compared to people praising this company is a far greater % than typical especially in light of how unpopular this groupon is compared to others. Steve f, thanks for spotting this and posting your posts. Dave – shame on you
Dan, I have asked no one to post on my behalf. I am greatly appreciative that some like us enough to do this for us. I have nothing to be ashamed of. Thanks for your post.
I’m wondering if there’s an upcharge for SUVs such as my Jeep Grand Cherokee beyond the $49 Groupon price.

OK- I think a couple of you guys saying there are ‘shills’ posting to this site are too skeptical. I am a Wheeling Auto customer for about a 1 1/2 years. I have a 2000 Volvo, I live in Prospect Heights and am usually disappointed with most service providers, but NOT WHEELING AUTO. They are much more thorough than my Volvo dealer was, and they really try to fix your car. They may not be the cheapest, but they are definitely less expensive than Volvo dealers.
As an example, I had a horrible moaning sound coming from the rear of my car. They thought it might be one thing, fixed it, and it didn’t get rid of the noise. Unlike my dealer, however, they actually took back the car and for FREE, fixed several other things until they found the problem. They stand behind their work!
If you are so skeptical, don’t buy the Groupon, that leaves more appointments for the rest of us who love this place – but don’t be so nasty unless you have some proof of your accusations.

Steve, I want to add something to my last post. Did you ever think that most Groupons are actually IN the city limits of Chicago, and this is way out in ArlingtonHeights- that may have something to do with why there aren’t “thousands” of these being sold, although I see that more people are buying by the minute.
Eva N.
How long does the service take, and hour or two?
Frank, no upcharge.
Eva, Thanks!
Rick, You would need to make an appointment and plan on leaving it for the day. The actual service takes somewhere near 2 hours or so but theres more to it. We will do what we can to make this doable for you like ride to work and back or provide you with a loaner. We try to be as easy as possible to work with.
I am trying to join as a company. I have e-mailed and left messages but have not received a call back. Is there another way to contact them?
wow eva, you sure sound like a shill, people who live in and around arlington heights can easily be over a million people and if your so disappointed with groupon i’m surprised you even bothered to check in let alone make not one or 2 comments. i live in the burbs also and there have been some out here that have sold as many as 10k and sold out in a day while this is averaging roughly 60 per day which by groupon standards = a big fail. that isn’t me saying it, it is the millions of northern suburbanites choosing not to purchase. and eva if you have any evidence that that large % of people here posting positive comments aren’t shills i’d like to see it. i don’t know if these positive comments are shills or not but if i was a betting person my gut tells me they are
I live in the city but my daughter lives in AH so I am visually familiar with this place, never been there. However, a very good friend of mine owns a full-service (they do everything) shop very similar to this one in the suburbs as well. He charges $35 for oil change, $20 is average price for wiper blades, and $20 for tire rotation. That’s $75 right there. I would have to call and ask him how much an inspection is but its not that important to me. Then there’s the car wash, sure your car dealer does it for free, but you gave them several thousand dollars for your car, they better wash the dang thing for free! And the last time I was at my dealer, they wanted 50 bucks for an oil change.
If you haven’t noticed yet, with the drastic decrease in new car sales, the cost of parts and labor to fix your older cars is GOING UP, starting with the dealerships. They are the ones selling fewer cars so they have to make up for it by charging more to fix them.
If I didn’t already get a great discount at my buddy’s shop I would buy it.

I know this discussion is over, but I still have to make one more post. 1. You’ll notice I put a picture up, unlike those of you who are criticizing this business – are YOU real or do you own rival companies? 2. I have used their services -have you? 3. I found them on Angie’s List originally, where they have 98% A ratings and where the people who post ARE VERIFIED to be true customers by Angies’s List.
Don’t be so quick to post negative opinions unless you can prove them.
Eva we know you are a shill
Eva we know how difficult it is to upload a picture – wow -
Eva we know the discussion is over
Eva we know that based on selling 185 groupons over 3 days that this groupon is a complete and utter failure, in fact there are 2 suburban groupons today in morton grove and highwood that have sold roughly 600 in12 hours each
More importantly Eva you have 2 much time on your hand, i wouldn’t have even seen this had the browser on my computer been open to this page
Eva Last I checked on yelp 33% of the yelpers on this business gave it a unfavorable rating.
Eva, rival companies??? really eva, wasn’t it you that said not to post comments unless you can prove them
Eva – by the way, if that is you, i would suggest plastic surgery

I heartily recommend Wheeling Auto Center because I’ve been 100% satisfied with their high quality service, professionalism, and genuine friendliness. And I trust them to service only what is necessary – at fair prices.
