Lasers perform a variety of important tasks, including reading barcodes, distracting cats, and producing holograms of Burt Reynolds so he can make appearances on four different continents at once. Revel in the entertaining power of the laser with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get two tickets to a Broadway Lights Show, which plays every Saturday night at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. through July 23 at the Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium (up to $20 value).

The effulgent lights of Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium have delighted sky-gazing enthusiasts and music-lovers of all ages since opening its star-dappled doors in 1964. Now with a newly added state-of-the-art ChromaCove lighting system, the planetarium and its Broadway Lights Show whisk watchers away to the tune-filled theatres of the Great White Way with a sound-and-light extravaganza, featuring show-stopping favorites from musicals including Wicked, Les Misérables, Cats, and Les Wicked Cats . Each song receives its own light show, replete with lyric-enhancing visuals, that treats ravenous retinas to an exquisite banquet of swirling light patterns and vivid colors. Rife with music that celebrates the passing of a day, the show starts with evening-themed tunes, moves on to Music of the Night, and ends with morning-time melodies inspired by a serene sunrise.

Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium

Since opening its star-dappled doors in 1964, the Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium has delighted sky-gazing enthusiasts through effulgent re-creations of the night sky and educational journeys through the solar system with its 24-foot-diameter dome, capable of illuminating 4,000 stars. Celestial explorations have included shows such as Uranus and Neptune: Planets of the Telescope Age, which explores the planets and their improbable journey from drifting stardust to two of the solar system's gas giants. Attractions such as Shorter Nights: Passage Into Spring reveal the dazzling sights visible in the local Buffalo sky in the buildup to the equinox, and Pluto and the Other Dwarfs: Smaller Objects of the Solar System guide sojourners on a quest to view the celestial orb as it hides, weeping over its stripped status as a planet, behind Saturn's rings.

The Groupon Guide to: Slowing Down Aging

Like a piece of cake left out on a countertop, the human body gets kind of stale and crumbly over time. Here are some ways you can slow the aging process down to a brisk jog:

Heart: The human heart will only beat so many times (exactly 26,000) before dissolving into a fine paste. Keep it running longer by lowering your heart rate every day, either with several 20-minute ice baths or, if your place of work is without ice bath, simply by sleeping in the freezer.

Nails: Healthy nails, which are defined as “over 6 inches in length and real sharp at the tip parts,” can be maintained well into early-middle age with a diet heavy in protein-rich foods such as steak or apples that have been cored and stuffed with lean pork chops.

Hair: If your hair is going gray, or “glooming,” shave it off. This won’t slow down the aging process, but now you’ll look exactly the way you did when you were born, which could trick your body into reverse aging.

Skin: Rub Dr. Rod Blenner’s Balmy-Bod Body Balm all over your face (before applying it to your face, test on a dime-size patch of skin, preferably one that has never been exposed to sunlight). Remember, that’s Dr. Rod Blenner’s Balmy-Bod Body Balm—when it’s on you, it’s eventually in you.

Eyes: Carrots are supposed to be good for eyesight. Eat a bunch of those. Or if you can’t stand the naturally disgusting flavor of a carrot, try the next closest thing—a frosting tube filled with orange-colored icing.
