Will Ripley Guitar School

Founded by the Berklee College of Music-educated Will Ripley, whose accomplished guitar work has torn through recordings from Grammy Award-winning rap artist Chin Injeti and David Bowie’s guitarist, The Will Ripley Guitar School welcomes students of all levels with dedicated and motivating instructors. To build a foundation of proper technique, Will and his similarly accomplished instructors ask students to compile a list of their favorite songs, which they then work through with the instructors, picking up chords, scales, and finger positioning along the way. Their lesson space contains all of the equipment needed for a live performance, such as PAs, drums, and amps, which the instructors use to convey musical concepts to the student. Will and his cadre of instructors teach all genres of music— rock, folk, metal, and jazz are but a few styles highlighted on both electric and acoustic guitars. Ultimately, they move beyond teaching the instrument toward shaping students into accomplished, well-rounded musicians. Will himself has demonstrated this virtue through his guitar, songwriting, and production work with The Tito Deville Band, who opened for pop stars LMFAO and received airplay on Virgin Radio, MuchMusic, and 99.3 The Fox.

Four times each year, The Will Ripley Guitar School gives students a chance to cut loose at "rock-citals," where they can rehearse with a full, professional band before performing on stage for friends, family, and the other students.

The Groupon Guide to: Barbershop Chatter

The barbershop has gained a reputation for being the place to go for listening to all sorts of lively chatter. Here's a sampling of what you might hear your barber say next time you get a haircut:

  • "Take 2 inches off the top? Yep, that's something I can do when these casts come off."

  • "I've been thinking about labeling the scissor jar 'Scissors' and the comb jar 'Not Scissors.' Thoughts?"

  • "Ha! No, this isn't the kind of barbershop that sweeps up the hair clippings."

  • "Someone stole all of our magazines, but you can read this letter I've been meaning to send to my estranged wife."

  • "Welcome to the barbershop, where men are kings and kings are giants and giants are half off before noon."

Why are barbershops called "listen holes"?
