Because plants have long been jealous of our ability to live indoors, they attempt to infiltrate our finest mansions and universities by slowly climbing stony facades. Visit a place built specifically to showcase these floral strivers with today's Groupon to the World Forestry Center Discovery Museum, located in Washington Park. Choose from the following options:

  • For $8, you get two adult admissions (a $16 value).
  • For $13, you get two adult and two children admissions ($26 value).

The 20,000 square foot facility showcases hands-on exhibits and simulators devoted to the importance of forests and their role in providing habitat, water, recreation, wood, and a number of other one-word wonders. The two floors are split into categories, with the first floor focusing on the Pacific Northwest and the second floor display of forest art, history, and culture, as well as a number of special exhibits. Other popular interactive exhibits include the Timberjack Harvester Simulator and River Raft Adventure, where visitors can take a simulated trip through class IV rapids.

Reviews

World Forestry Center gets a four-star average rating from Yelpers, TripAdvisors and six InsiderPagers.

  • The World Forestry Center Museum is a great place for kids of all ages. Lots of interactive things for them to do, and interesting things for them to learn. – Robert E., Insiderpages
  • The tag line for this museum is "It'll change the way you look at trees." and I think that perfectly summarizes it. This is much more than a museum. I had a fantastic time and it was an excellent educational environment. – TravelingMan446, TripAdvisor

The Groupon Guide to: White House Secrets

The White House is one of the few residences of heads of state that is open to the public. However, in addition to accommodations that anyone can visit, such as the Lincoln Bedroom and the above-ground pool, the White House contains many secret rooms. Here's a look at some of the most sensitive:

The Sub-Basement: This contains not only a bomb shelter, a swarm-of-bees shelter, and a titanium helmet that stops psychics from reading the president's mind, but also the nation's priceless archive of Fleer's complete 1994 holofoil baseball-card set and a kidnapped army of George Washington's descendants.

The Secret Passageways: Many rooms of the White House include hidden tunnels, such as the passageway under the president's desk that links the Oval Office to Six Flags America in Maryland. These passageways are decorated with historical artifacts, including the original draft of the Constitution, which made holding hands in public a capital offense.

The Experimental Kitchen: Located beneath the public kitchen, this is where White House chefs keep the chickens that hatch fully cooked.

The Hidden Fane: To help him make decisions, the president deliberates in this secret shrine that houses the bones of every former president, including those who are still alive. During the week that the president spends silently meditating in their presence, he is replaced by a hologram. That is why it is common to poke the president upon meeting him.

How easily can you get from the White House to Six Flags?
