Food-and-drink festivals allow people to diversify their palates in one day, a feat previously attainable only by cramming five frozen dinners and a variety pack of juice boxes into a blender. Savor expanding horizons with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $10 for a First Fridays VIP wristband (a $20 value)
  • $17 for a VIP First Fridays wristband with a carriage ride (a $35 value)

On Friday, June 1, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., students and residents of the Gator Nation band together to descend on the city for an evening of drinking, live music, and raucous merriment. A VIP wristband entitles guests to complimentary food, drinks, an optional carriage ride, and valet service at 20 participating locations. Highlights include a free wine tasting at Half Cork'd, casino games with sponsored prizes at Main Street Bar & Billiards, and live music at Smokehouse Downtown. To sweeten the deal, guests earn raffle tickets for sponsor-provided prizes by getting their passport stamped at participating venues. Upon the event's completion, participants receive a souvenir photograph that both commemorates their experience and reveals any mustard that might have been trapped in their mustache bristles.

Pledge 5

As a nonprofit organization that organizes philanthropic events for other nonprofit organizations, the Pledge 5 foundation conducts food, clothing, and public-service pledge drives for its numerous charity partners. In conjunction with each of these charity drives, they host community-centered promotional events—pub crawls, pet adoptions, and tailgating parties—that aim to inspire people to give back to their community. Pledge 5's staff, interns, student association, and service chamber all work to create positive change throughout the Gainesville community by stimulating local commerce and planting popsicle gardens.

The Groupon Guide to: Boat Naming

Naming a boat or “ship” is probably the most important part of boat owner"ship." Here’s a guide to naming your sea craft no matter what “type” it is (this sentence was typed, which is why the quotes around “type” are funny):

Personal Yacht
A Seafoam Symphony (boat name by Mikæl)
Charity Schmarity
If This Boat’s a-Rockin’, Please Come a-Knockin’ – We Do Not Want to Drown
Martha’s Windward
Yachtoberfest

Commercial Boats
The Chuggler
The SS Hungry Man
Big Boat

Cruise Ships
The (Type of Fruit/Time of Day) Princess

Speed Boats
Angry Angus
Daddy’s Little Metaphor
My Best Friend’s Wake
This Tears It: I Enjoy Speedboats
Last of the Boat-Speedcans
