When you order a bottle of wine in a restaurant, the server typically returns with your selection and pours a sample for tasting. This normally results in an awkward moment in which you're unsure how to respond because you don't want to seem wine-naive, so you blankly nod in approval. Next time you're in this situation, use one of these responses to sound like a wine enthusiast:
- "This is the best wine I've ever had out of glass, as I normally drink wine from a sock lined with a plastic bag I found behind a rural school for troubled teens."
- "My, my, good server. Ye hath brought me a real quint of a dandy."
- "I detect a hint of sawdust. Punch me repeatedly on the upper half of my back if I'm correct."
- "Wowzers. Yeesh. Sheezies. Knick knock. Mr. Tallahan. Danish porridge."
