Revolution Bodywork opened with the goal of bringing affordable natural healthcare solutions to the whole community. Because treatments and services can be too expensive for many to use as often as they need it, Revolution offers all of its treatments on a sliding scale, allowing clients to choose what they can afford to pay.
These treatments include a separate community acupuncture clinic, nutritional consultations, and massage and bodywork. During community-acupuncture sessions, which take place in a group setting, the practitioner targets various acupoints with tiny needles that stimulate the body's ability to heal itself. Traditional sports and orthopedic massages work alongside craniosacral therapy to relieve pain and enhance emotional well-being. With all these healthcare solutions, Revolution’s wellness experts have seen success in treating a variety of different problems, such as back pain and migraines.
At Bikram Yoga Hudson, sweating is a shower for the body, mind, and soul. In their new location, a 105-degree room summons beads of perspiration to oust pent-up toxins and stress during the studio’s 90-minute classes. The heat eases student's muscles into deep, relaxing stretches as they practice 26 hatha poses and controlled breathing techniques. In addition to boosting strength, flexibility, and concentration, these exercises propel fresh oxygen through the body to promote wellness and fill deflated water wings. Certified instructors shepherd students of all levels through the workout, reminding them to hydrate frequently and pose at their own pace, and afterwards students can wash off the sweat in one of the studio's showers.
Each of the four
instructors at Ebb n' Flow Yoga has at least a 200-hour RYT certification to her name. Soni Anderson has been a yoga enthusiast since infancy. As a baby in the Fiji islands, she received yoga massage from her grandmother while her grandfather danced and performed stories from ancient Hindu texts. Her village endorsed meditation and an Ayurvedic lifestyle, prompting Soni to practice her asanas alongside extended family and friends as she matured. Today, as the owner and head teacher of SoniYoga, she strives to combine her grandfather's playful mindset with the therapeutic customs of her homeland.
SoniYoga focuses on the Hatha style, though its studio also embraces restorative, Kundalini, and yin and yang postures during certain classes. A serene atmosphere of acceptance welcomes all students to challenge themselves each time they visit, whether they wish to push the boundaries of their flexibility with a more advanced pose or with a more restrictive suit of armor. Instructors heat the yoga room to approximately 88–90 degrees Fahrenheit, causing muscle tension to slacken and sweat-gland managers to mandate overtime.
