Your average golf course might take up as many as 4,000,000 square feet, yet Mountain Meadow's sports lounge is only around 10,000. That doesn't mean golfers still can't get in a full round, thanks to the facility's four state-of-the-art golf simulators, which invite players to get some practice in no matter whether the forecast calls for wet rain or pesky sunlight. But the fun doesn't stop at golf; visitors can also play pool, shoot darts, or retire to a private card game room for some Texas Hold 'Em or high-stakes Go Fish atop professional tables. Larger parties can also rent out the facility's event room, named the Pinnacle, which comes replete with a stage and lighting effects.
No matter the weather outside, the conditions are always right at Extra Innings, a 15,000 square foot indoor baseball and softball training facility. The facility includes four batting and pitching tunnels, each of which is 70 feet in length and equipped with an adjustable pitching machine, an L-screen for live batting practice, and a pitching mound. If players want more help, they can turn to Extra Innings' instructors, many of whom are former or current professional players and college all-stars. These experts use a uniform step-by-step teaching system to help students develop their swings, improve their fielding, and learn to only exclaim "I got it!" if they're about to catch a fly ball or have just been told a joke. For a break, players can visit an on-site pro-shop full of name-brand gear, or they can even arrange a shindig in the party area to celebrate birthdays and special victories.
The Give Me Five pass grants access to five of any of the following activities: Kimball Farm's 300-yard driving range, nine-hole pitch-and-putt course, and batting cages will help golfers and batters adjust squeaky swings, and the Animal Adventures exhibit allows guests to interact with reptiles while discussing current events with talking birds. Give Me Fivers can also perform kinetic-energy experiments using colorful balls on the Waterfall Run or Forbidden Mine miniature-golf courses before boarding a bumper boat to faithfully recreate Star Wars on melted ice. The pass may also be used to acquire a play card (a $6 value) from the Olde Sawmill Midway Arcade.
202 Entertainment's miniature-golf course offers pint-sized putters the chance to hone their stroke over 18 holes of family-friendly, obstacle-laden terrain. Grab three friends, siblings, or shillelagh-swinging necromancers for a brisk glide over the course's streams, ponds, and spray fountain, deftly preventing nefarious, hazard-bound sea serpents from tasting the sweet dimples of prismatic orbs as you practice your putt and strut.
A destination with a little something for the whole family, The Only Game in Town boasts a driving range, two mini-golf courses, a go-kart track, and a fully appointed arcade. Party packages are available to celebrate special days, and can be customized to accommodate a variety of group sizes with varying levels of activities included.
Housed in a multisport training facility, Milford Sports Center's cadre of professional coaches oversees fitness classes and practice spaces to help athletes groom their games of golf, baseball, and softball. Former Boston Red Sox catcher and two-time MLB All-Star Rich Gedman headlines the Center’s baseball program, which encompasses private and semiprivate lessons and an annual summer camp that teaches little leaguers the basics of hitting, base running, defense, and seed spitting. For more independent training, hitters can crack line drives in the Center’s 11 batting cages, which offer both softball- and baseball-pitching machines.
Piercing drives echo from the Center’s indoor golf-training facilities, where players hone their swings away from the threat of inclement weather or flash-mobbing water hazards. The Full Swing Golf simulator lets clubbers seek out pars on digital replicas of 64 world-famous courses, including Pebble Beach, Bay Harbor, and the Old Course at St. Andrews. Fitness trainers also guide guests through a circuit of up-tempo, rhythmic exercises in Zumba classes.
