Doctor of Chiropractic Dana Zappala believes that the body's well-being is based on the summation of its experiences. At L.A Chiro Spa Malibu, her neuro emotional technique dives into the stresses and traumas of the past that may still be lingering, and by working to resolve these, works to bring the body and mind back into balance. But this is just one facet of the healing approach she and her team operates by. Emotions aside, they also work to ease the physical pain and disruption caused by years of poor posture or one carefree day of somersaulting down the sidewalk. They adjust spines and massage muscles to ease back pain, craft custom meal plans to help relieve digestive problems, and draw from Eastern healing techniques such as acupuncture to guide the body's energy flow.
As a pre-med student with plans for a traditional physician's career, Dr. Robert Zelinsky thought he had it all figured out. But a fascination with drug-free healing soon prevailed, and after graduating with a degree in neuropsychology, he enrolled in chiropractic school. As a practicing chiropractor, Dr. Zelinsky's has lent his spine-straightening talents to a group of medical staffers at the International Tae Kwon Do Tournament. Most of his patients, however, aren't grappling with kick-based injuries, but simply want to feel better through natural techniques. Many, Dr. Zelinsky notes, come to him when it seems as though surgery is the answer, and he prides himself on preventing them from going under the knife.

Dr. Michael Richey didn’t always have that prefix in front of his name. A personal injury sustained while practicing martial arts caused Dr. Richey immense pain. His doctor at the time suggested surgery, which, according to Dr. Richey, only slightly alleviated the pain that radiated from his bulging disc. He turned to a chiropractor as a last-ditch effort to avoid a second surgery, and—within a week—his aches had subsided. So impressed by his treatment, Dr. Richey decided to become a chiropractor himself.
Today, Dr. Richey is able to practice martial arts on the side, though his career is now chiropractic medicine. At Living Well Family Chiropractic, he primarily targets and treats the joint changes that cause patients pain. Once pinpointed, he can work to readjust the spine into its original, erect position, supplementing treatments with massage, dietary counseling, physical therapy, and lifestyle-modification programs.
