Former U.S. Marine Carlos Valdez heads the experienced trainers at Power Fitness, deploying militaristic discipline to shape clients with body-sculpting workouts and nutritional advice. After evaluating fitness levels and goals, trainers infect aerobic amateurs and ruthless oxygen destroyers alike with contagious motivational mojo. Boot campers engage in weight-bearing exercises that pit gravity against muscles— gravity's greatest battle since it handily defeated astronaut ice cream. The you-lifting moves are designed to increase muscle strength, tighten cores, and tone hearts. One-hour sessions (starting at 5:30 a.m. and 8 a.m.) take place Monday–Friday at Body Builder's Powerhouse gym. Camp purists can roast muscles over cardiovascular fires in outdoor sessions that convene Monday–Friday at Bill Schupp Park on Zinnia Avenue from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In addition to muscle manipulation, Power Fitness trainers also provide healthy-eating guidelines and meal plans to maximize intake of nutritional grub and minimize intake of flaming batons.
