Music N More started in 2003 by taking over the Concord Music Mart. Since that time we have grown to be the largest independent music retailer in North Carolina. We specialize in being a one stop shop for all your musical needs, band & orchestral repair, fretted instrument & electronic repair, lessons and much much more!
A pianist since age 9, Nathan Hughes' instrumental repertoire has since grown to include guitar and bass. For more than 15 years, he's showcased his skills on all three with gigs in bands of nearly every genre, from blues to reggae. But when he's not on stage, Nathan draws upon 13-plus years of music teaching experience during lessons at his eponymous studio.
Available to students of all ages and skill levels, Nathan's sessions are rooted in core musical concepts and skills, such as theory and sight-reading. Beyond that, however, every lesson is customized to each student's interests, whether it's playing ragtime piano or performing an ear-splitting guitar solo with only their mind. Along with one-on-one lessons in his studio, Nathan happily works with students over Skype or other video conferencing software.
At Music Matters, each instructor is a highly qualified, professional musician. In fully equipped studios and practice rooms, they lead private lessons with custom instruction for more than 15 instruments, including the piano, guitar, drums, voice, violin, and most orchestral instruments. They also inspire the next generation of modern Mozarts with special programs such as the Rock Band 101 class, which teaches students how to rehearse with a band and play with other students. Rock Band 101 includes hands-on experience playing songs from each decade beginning with the 1960s, and teachers also encourage students to write and develop their own songs.
Giving kids the chance to stretch their creative wings is just one aspect of the philosophy at Fun Arts Afterschool. Workshops suited for kids aged 9-14 include the introductory Acting For Film, where students learn Method Acting and the Meisner Technique—which uses a series of exercises designed to help students improvise. Likewise, teens in the DVD film class acquire knowledge to storyboard, write scrips, and even act on film.
At Howren Piano Studio, Miss Howren teaches piano in a supportive environment that favors group lessons and one-on-one instruction alike. Group lessons let pupils learn together by taking turns playing songs. This allows for more camaraderie and multiple perspectives on piano techniques. Private lessons are also very effective and available, and Miss Howren encourages parents to be present for kids’ lessons so that they can assist during practice at home. Both private and group lessons are available for all ages.
