Owner Barb Batiste turns out a plethora of homemade desserts and sweet treats under the heading of her catering company, B Sweet, located on Robertson Boulevard. From cupcakes, cookies, breads and brownies to muffins, pies and parfaits, customers will have no shortage of sugary options to choose from. The chocolate chip banana bread is moist, dense and popular, though most customers tend to see if Barb’s signature bread pudding is available. It usually is, in a variety of flavors like banana chocolate, red velvet and salted caramel. B Sweet’s mobile operation features two black and pink trucks loaded with all sorts of quick-fix dessert bites, while the more expansive catering operation can make sandwiches, hot main dishes and drinks for private events. A brick-and-mortar space is soon to pop up in West Los Angeles as well.

Cookbook is a small grocery store in the heart of Echo Park. They focus on bringing local, fresh and quality products to the residents and take time to cultivate a variety of brands that produce food responsibly, with little to no harm done to the environment and animals. The store is picturesque, with all the fruits and vegetables laid out in angled eye-level wooden bins or placed in bowls on their rustic tables. Prepared sandwiches and baked goods are displayed at the back counter. All the wooden details and quality products make it comparable to the perfection of a movie set.

Named 2009 Micro Roaster of the Year by Roast Magazine, Klatch Coffee's casual coffeterias celebrate some of the world's highest quality coffee, carefully sourced to international farmers under direct trade ethics. Roasted in small batches for maximum freshness and minimum inter-bean squabbling, Klatch's java pleases patrons with a drip coffee of the day ($1.95–$2.20), as well as designer drinks such as the Mexican mocha ($3.40–$4.30), infused with spicy Ibarra chocolate. Discerning slurpers can also sate barking bellies with a hammy, cheesy eggel sandwich ($3.99) from the breakfast menu, or train teeth on heartier lunch fare such as a cranberry walnut salad ($3.75) or turkey pesto panini ($5.95).
