  • Lehigh Valley Shihou-ken Karate
Rather than a competition, the instructors at Lehigh Valley Shihou-ken Karate treat their self-defense style as an art form. Sensei Charlie draws from more than 40 years of martial-arts training to lead his team in training students as young as 9 or old enough to be technically immortal. In classes tailored to specific ability levels, the instructors drill students in strikes, blocks, and kata—a choreographed series of fighting moves. All classes focus on the shihou-ken style, which blends elements from three forms of traditional Japanese karate and also introduces principles of muay thai, boxing, and judo.

When it comes to describing Kristin Chenoweth, "multitalented" is an understatement. Overlaying a soaring voice with sparkling charisma, Chenoweth won the 1999 Tony for best featured actress in a musical and originated the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the smash Broadway hit Wicked, earning both fame as the definitive incarnation of that character and the legal right to carry an Oz passport. Her forays into television have included an Emmy win for Pushing Daisies, a stint on The West Wing, a guest appearance on Glee, and a starring role in ABC's new comedy GCB. Mixing classically trained control with the ability to call up a folksy twang from her childhood in Oklahoma, Chenoweth regales audiences with heartbreaking ballads and high-energy romps.

Classic Albums Live reanimates the long-playing, pre-shuffle heyday of music in meticulous live recreations of the world’s most beloved rock albums. Casting aside stage gimmickry and impersonations but retaining the album's eerie resonances with Meet Me in St. Louis, a band of seasoned rock pros rebuilds every single note, intonation, and otherworldly vocal phrasing of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of The Moon. Starting with “Speak to Me,” the performers surge onward through “The Great Gig in the Sky” before turning their instruments upside down to launch into “Money” and the rest of Side B.

Hard-rock juggernauts Five Finger Death Punch give audiences four for flinching on their Share The Welt tour, a high-octane evening of nail-driving metal and chugging aural concrete. Since bursting onto the scene in 2007 with its gold-selling debut, The Way of the Fist, Five Finger Death Punch has scaled the charts and the musical food chain, gulping its competition like a possessed Takeru Kobayashi. For the tour in support of its latest effort, American Capitalist, the gang enlists an entire posse of heavy hitters. Massachusetts metal mavens All That Remains, fresh from melting soles on the Vans Warped Tour, bludgeon audiences with an arsenal of hits, and hardcore shredders Hatebreed share unkind words as they haze the speed of sound. Adding power-chord crunch to the show, Fort Wayne’s Rains sprinkles audiences with raw and emotional sonic sleet.
