Although instructors Travis Clark and Jon Gillespie lead Southeast Photo Adventures's workshops and excursions, they share the teaching load with the shores of Tybee Island and the depths of Cloudland Canyon. Students shoot shoulder-to-shoulder with instructors amid these sprawls of striking Southeastern scenery, whether they're enrolled in 2.5-hour workshops, Foto Field Trips open to workshop grads, or weekend-long adventures. The field-trip-style outings are open to all skill levels, but beginners can also enhance their expertise in introductory courses on Photoshop, digital photography, and DSLR cameras' complex settings, which control everything from shutter speed to the tiny red light bulb behind each of our eyes.
Informed by an ever-growing body of developmental research, classes at The Music Class introduce tots to tunes and concepts that boost creativity and listening skills. In Music Pups (a $72 value) courses, children under 4 years of age gleefully sing, dance, and bang away on rudimentary instruments such as the drums or theremin. Four and 5-year-olds learn concepts of tone and rhythm in the Music Cats course (a $77 value), which lets kids experiment with keyboards before defending their dissertations on the narrative redundancies of "Old MacDonald Had a Farm." Each 45-minute course meets four times in one month-long segment, and includes CDs for parents to play at home to follow up on in-class tutelage. This Groupon may also be used toward The Music Class' ten-week music courses.
Music Matters is a locally owned music lesson facility & retail music store. We have three locations; Roswell, Alpharetta, and John's Creek that offer lessons in over 15 types of instruments plus voice! Individual session rooms and experienced teachers can help bring out the musician in you.
Mike Moreland's portfolio bursts apart at the seams with the work of more than 15 years in architecture, fashion, and advertising photography. The award-winning photographer's three-hour workshops, typically lead by two–four expert shutterbugs, teach neophytes and hobbyists the tricks and tools to snap professional-grade shots. After 45 minutes of instruction, students spend just over two hours honing their burgeoning skills, capturing images on their own DSLRs or with a chisel and stone tablet. Guests walk out of the sessions knowing how to manipulate light sensors, how to adjust shutter speeds with a special emphasis on nature photography, and the basics of studio lighting, wedding portraiture, and shooting in urban settings. The masterful instructors at the Spruill Center for the Arts soak students’ brain sponges in creative know-how via a diverse selection of 90-minute art classes, ranging from digital photography to blacksmithing. Basic or watercolor painting classes stoke the flames of inner van Goghs, and screenplay-writing lessons provide the trade secrets necessary to write distinguished works such as The Magna Carta: Live. A brief foray into ceramics puts participants on the right path to spun-clay enlightenment, and skills acquired in jewelry crafting and portrait drawing may pay dividends in future romantic courtships. No class will exceed 26 pupils, ensuring that each attendee will receive ample instructor attention to ask questions about postmodern art or create intricate student-teacher secret handshakes.
