Napa Valley Adventure Boot Camp owner Jeff Larson and his team of trainers know all about breaking a sweat. Each day, they challenge their students with fitness classes that string cardio and resistance workouts into a challenging chain of intense exercise. They also understand that water and electronics don't mix—instead of hosting their classes inside gyms filled with treadmills and stationary bikes, they stage their regimens outdoors, fortifying their workouts with rejuvenating sunrays and the encouraging shrieks of onlooking robins.
The letters in The LAB stand for longevity, attitude, and balance, highlighting the studio's three-pronged approach to health and fitness. Inside an impressive warehouse, trainers wrangle a belief-beggaring stock of workout equipment and accessories for use in tailor-made routines for individuals and small groups. Each program strives to steadily enhance overall wellness through body-sculpting drills and an emphasis on correct form, as coaches devote personal attention to participants, ensuring a motivational workout and expert advice on which font is best suited for monogramming newly formed biceps.
The founders of Your Body Works chose the gym's location in Solano County after reading a startling statistic: in 2009, this county had California's highest percentage of residents with diabetes. So Your Body Works is outfitted with everything that locals need to get in shape: ellipticals, cross-trainers, treadmills, free weights, and strength-training machines. They also lead group fitness classes with focuses such as spin and body sculpting; the schedule also includes CrossFit, a high-intensity, functional cross-training workout program for exercisers of all experience levels.
Certified personal trainer Cleveland Hughes Jr. leads up to 30 clients at a time in high-energy workouts on weekday mornings. Every 55-minute workout is different, but classes are composed of aerobics, strength training, kickboxing, gymnastics, and games. Nutritional guidance is also offered.
Today they’re playfully dubbed “The Boot Camp Guys,” but Jaron Eliopoulos and Jeffrey Sears were merely students of kinesiology when they met in 2005. After bonding over a shared passion for fitness, the two began to move toward their current nickname by leading boot camp on the side of personal-training jobs. But when their camp spread to two cities and more than 100 patrons, the amount it takes to overthrow a tyrannical couch potato, Jaron and Jeff could ignore their calling no more and LiveFit Boot Camp was born.

Jeff and Jaron dream up a new workout each day and turn it over to trainers who not only encourage the clients that attend, but also check in with no-shows to make sure they’re staying on track. Through combinations of sprinting, suspension training, kettlebell moves, and other exercises, the routines keep muscles guessing and attendees engaged.
National Academy of Sports Medicine–certified personal trainer Anna Dornier founded Transform FX Fitness Bootcamp after a frustrating period of weight-loss guesswork, during which she relinquished fruitless gym visits for a variable, 45-minute class structure. Anna's triumph over her own unwanted pounds inspired her to help others, and she now holds indoor boot-camp sessions for clients of all fitness levels. Though each class challenges participants to stretch their physical limits, everyone is encouraged to move at their own pace through an invigorating medley of strength and cardio exercises. Regular measurements calculate body-fat percentage and the number of kettlebells you can fit in your mouth to showcase individual progress. A members-only online community also doles out community support, nutrition resources, and tools for tracking your health headway.
