A Broadway-style extravaganza set aboard a replicated 18th-century Spanish galleon, Pirate's Dinner Adventure is one of the only theater performances to require a 250,000-gallon water tank outside of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Manatees. While the dastardly Captain Sebastian the Black lords over his feasting crew of rapscallions, guests get to dine from the deck of one of the six ships surrounding the galleon?and cheer on the plucky pirate representing their vessel in the show. What unfolds is a swashbuckling spectacle of stunts, songs, magic, and acrobatics punctuated with as many fired cannons as belly laughs. Pirates dangle precariously from silk off the 40-foot mast. Treasure chests overflow with booty. Heroes rise from the ranks?and select members of the audience might even be invited by Captain Sebastian to come aboard the stage.

Slow-smoking is the name of the game at JP23 BBQ Sports Restaurant. Here, chicken wings alone are slow-smoked for three hours before the pit masters toss them in any of 10 house sauces, which include citrus barbecue and sriracha-spiked roasted garlic. These sauces—all made from scratch—also lend their flavors to the sliced tri-tip and pulled chicken.

Of course, not everything at JP23 is slathered with sauce. Slices of texas toast bookend bacon and scoops of mac and cheese, while chili and creamy guacamole cover heaps of fries. To complement the food, bartenders pour 30 draft beers hailing from local and overseas breweries. The beers even find their way into cocktails such as JP23's bloody mary, which blends pepper-flavored vodka with Guinness. As if that weren't enough to draw crowds for the next big sporting event, JP23 recently came under new ownership, which means a new menu, more seating, more TVs, and (hopefully) more no-holds-barred sauce fights.

In 2011, OC Weekly dubbed rock 'n' roll bar The Juke Joint one of the best bars of the year. Here, 20 craft, domestic, and international draft beers are served alongside cocktails and whiskey shots. With walls painted black, the bar invites patrons to spin a few songs on the jukebox, which blasts tunes ranging from punk and rockabilly to American roots music. The bar also hosts live music on a stage dedicated to the late Nekromantix drummer Andrew Martinez. Five pool tables facilitate friendly games and official billiards tournaments, and free WiFi makes it easy to upload the photos that will be deleted tomorrow.

The Slidebar Rock-n-Roll Kitchen is entrenched in Orange County's music scene. Owned by Jeremy Popoff, guitarist and songwriter for the platinum rock band Lit, the venue celebrates all things rock. Even the comfort food–influenced menu echoes a rock 'n' roll show, with diners choosing from "opening acts" such as the signature deep-fried mac 'n' cheese or seared ahi tuna before moving on to "headliners" such as grilled fish tacos and vodka cream fettuccine. Finally comes the "encore," during which guests dig into desserts such as cheesecake taquitos, then play air guitar on their forks and smash them on the table. Lighter options are also available for health-conscious dining rockstars, such as quinoa with tofu and kale salad. On any given night, local and national bands take the stage, and on Wednesday nights, patrons can attempt to make their own mark on rock 'n' roll history with a karaoke machine.

Canadian electrofunk duo Chromeo exhales party-starting inertia, kicking off its Night Falls Tour by rolling out a carpet of dance-floor passports. Melding the talents of guitarist, vocalist, and French-literature buff Dave 1 with the dexterous fingers and throwback savvy of synthmaster P-Thugg, Chromeo has earned reverence from funkophiles for its slick grooves and mastery of jam architecture. Fans can expect congenial beats, riffing Moogs, and songcraft that father-and-son yachts can enjoy together in support of the band's latest album, Business Casual. Inflating the soulful evening, singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Mayer Hawthorne channels wandering Motown spirits with a retroactive Detroit sound, and mustachioed party maestro DJ Sammy Bananas sets the scene with genre jumping and remixes that rumble like tubas in a Cuisinart.
