Owners Jeff and Michelle Dow met at the University of Iowa on athletic scholarships for gymnastics. After decorated careers that included spots on the U.S. Nationals team, the duo moved to Lubbock and founded Tega Kid's Superplex in 1995. Assisted by a skilled staff, they entertain and educate kids in teamwork and the athletic arts during sports programs, camps, and events. Though planted in gymnastics classes and fertilized with hand-grip chalk, the 18,000-square-foot facility has blossomed into a diverse space that teaches noncompetitive dance, cheerleading, tumbling, and swimming lessons that follow the USAG Junior Olympic Program's curriculum. The facility also houses a preschool, afterschool activities, and summer events and is a licensed provider of Motion Evolution, an interactive fitness program for kids.

Drawing on a traditional Middle Eastern dance discipline, Tribal Rhythm's professional instructors motivate sirens-in-training to torso twirl and hip shake toward greater fitness and self-confidence. Beginning classes let newbies get their swivel on with no prior experience by laying out basic belly-dance movements, posture techniques, and an introduction to zills, the finger cymbals that provide the backbeat for countless amphibian brass quartets. Those who graduate to intermediate and advanced classes with instructor approval can choose from courses in two waist-whittling styles, which include the earthy and improvisational-choreography-based Tribal Fusion and the hip and torso undulations of the ballet-inspired Egyptian variation. Regardless of rank, students are encouraged to don freewheeling duds to each session, including yoga pants, tank tops, and breezy berets.
Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club fuels club-wielding adventures with a secluded 18-hole championship course backdropped by sweeping mountain and valley views. Natural running streams and boulder formations wind along the 6,400 yards of conditioned fairways and varied terrain, allowing golfers to connect with nature while circumnavigating man-made pot bunkers and ninth-hole sphinx riddles. From an aerial perspective, the course layout resembles a figure-8 devoid of parallel holes, enhancing privacy midround. During 60-minute group-lesson clinics, a golf professional will lead you and up to nine other range-stationed players through proper techniques for putting, driving, chipping, and communicating with forecaddies via semaphore.
