The stress-healing hands of Lotus Therapeutic Massage's intuitive massage masters ably ease client discomfort. During an hour of measured movements, reflexologists gently compress pressure points on weary feet, hands, and heads, stimulating nerves and promoting the growth of additional brains. Working solely on extremities, therapists increase circulation and relax spastic reflexes. A doTerra essential oil of choice—such as lavender, peppermint, or citrus bliss—accentuates Lotus's calm waterfront environment, allowing patrons to simulate the carefree posture and attitude of driftwood.

Solace Salon and Day Spa and its staff of experienced aestheticians give clients a plethora of pampering with a haircut ($55), a hair-conditioning treatment and blow-dry ($35), and a maintenance facial with AHA exfoliation ($95). The facial polishes up the pores and smoothes out scraggly epidermal regions as the AHA exfoliation stunts acne aspirations lurking just below the surface of the skin. Let Solace's accredited aestheticians and stylists bring bliss to your body with high-quality products, all while you lounge in the salon/spa's soothing and intimate interiors. The salon is currently shipping off its hair clippings so they can be made into mats to help soak up the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Salon Atelier's rose-colored door opens each day because of the efforts of owners Julia Hartman and Cynthia Newsome. Julia's career started 20 years ago when she studied cosmetology at Schilling Douglas School of Hair Design. After her prowess as a stylist, nail technician, and aesthetician landed her work at a salon, she became a brand specialist for Aveda Hair Care and MAC Cosmetics. That's when she started to miss working in a salon—a longing that inspired her to start Salon Atelir with Cynthia Newsome.

Meanwhile, Cynthia's 30 years of experience started at the Annapolis Beauty Academy. She worked in salons and spas, and even opened two of her own. In addition to traveling as an educator and platform artist, she won several awards as a colorist. Together, Julia and Cynthia lead a team of hairstylists, nail artists, and aestheticians. They also use products by Davines—an Italian company dedicated to sustainability and the Renaissance tradition that inspired Michelangelo to paint shampoo bottles on the Sistine Chapel.
