In 2012, Pine Hill Country Club hit an important milestone: its 50th anniversary. Rewind back to the beginning and you find course designer Bill Scarborough drawing his 18-hole vision around the land's natural features—from the dense forest groves to the ten lakes that intersect the course layout. He wedged the tenth green onto a small piece of land that juts out into the largest of these water hazards, creating a peninsula green flanked deceptively by water. On the 18th hole, meanwhile, Mr. Scarborough clearly set out to leave a lasting impression on every golfer, and since he couldn't find any swamp monsters willing to live in the final pond, he settled for a dramatic approach shot to cap off the 6,191-yard tour.
Members at Curves, a fitness center designed exclusively for women, rotate around a circuit of hydraulic resistance machines that have been designed to work with female bodies and promote weight loss, protect against osteoporosis, and deal with arthritis. An experienced trainer is always nearby to help manage participants’ machine maneuvering and muscle making. Instead of fiddling with weight stacks and losing momentum, the hydraulic machines use your own body weight, fitness level, and aerodynamic water bottle to create resistance that matches abilities, decreasing the risk of soreness or injury. Because traditional lift-and-lower motions create bulky muscles, each machine uses push-and-pull motions to create toned, lean muscles perfect for crushing a grapefruit without looking like you can.
A classic pool hall, Lil Dixie's Cue & Grill's interior is dominated largely by a variety of billiards tables. With 11 total destinations for billiards games—plus four dart boards—visitors can get their fix of old-school gaming, and they can get a drink and some grub in the process. Lil Dixie's also offers a full menu, as well as well drinks, beers on tap, and adult Shirley Temples. The hangout also beckons revelers with live music from guitar players and TVs that air baseball, possibly leading to a dream about a batter swinging a guitar.
