What are some of your most popular services? What do you think clients love them so much?
Deep-tissue and bamboo massage really gets into the tissues and relieves tension. Hot stone massage is also popular because of how warm the stones are?and how cold it is in Wisconsin. It's a great way to heat the body up again and escape the chilly weather.
What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
My studio also houses many hairstylists and beauty professionals, which means my clients can have a whole day of pampering, if they like.
How did you get started in the beauty industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?
It happened when I was 21. I just enjoyed massage, because doing what you love doesn't feel like work.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
I think healthy living is the best way to go. Get a regular massage and be good to your body.
Ashley Hessom, the owner and head massage therapist at Sacred Heart Bodywork, began her career on the other side of the massage table. Ashley was hit by a car while riding her bicycle and afterwards suffered from chronic pain and migraines, conditions that conventional medicine proved inadequate to treat. She eventually discovered alternative medicine, which helped her find relief from pain and inspired her to learn how to give others the same gift of healing.
And that's just what she strives for at Sacred Heart. With a mixture of empathy, compassion, and technique, Ashley works with each client to relieve their individual afflictions. One notable treatment is transformational bodywork, a treatment completely tailored to each individual, and one that draws from many different modalities to re-align the body and facilitate relief from chronic pain and tension. Raindrop therapy is another of Ashley's specialties, during which, she applies nine different essential oils to the feet and spine, helping to lengthen the spine and flush out dormant viruses and bacteria. For those looking for more traditional relief, Ashley also offers Swedish, deep-tissue, and hot stone massage, the latter of which uses oil lava stones to help melt tension and keep newly lightened spirits from floating off the table.
The accommodating staff at The Cutting Edge Salon uses their talented hairstylists to snip away at overgrown coiffures and perform a variety of mane-manipulating services, including single-process color, texturing, and styling. Clients can continue beauty regimens at home with the salons' collection of Redken products available for purchase. Outside hair services, the salon furnishes both of its locations with 40 clean and thoroughly inspected private UV tanning beds, allowing the team to collectively bronze visitors one small army at a time. The four tiers of tanning beds each contain face and body light bulbs that vary in number and intensity, and grant tanners a luxuriously gold exterior without pushing them into King Tut's sarcophagus. Those eschewing UV rays step into the salons' automated Magic spray-tan booths, which engulf bodies in three shades of tanning solution for an even, streak-free tan with head-to-toe coverage.
With a squadron of upscale brands at the ready, Tonya M. Conrad and her staff at Infinique Skin & Spa are ready to tackle a range of beauty needs. Names such as Oxygen Botanicals, Nufree, Organics Skincare, SkinMasterMD Facial machine, and Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics headline the show, which comprises skincare and hair-removal treatments. While some clients undergo microdermabrasions and massages, others sign up for specialty services such as lash perming or pain-controlled permanent cosmetics.
Lara Kistenmacher began focusing on skin when her own bout of rosacea caused her to become frustrated with prescriptions and pills. Now located inside Wholistic Health, she turns to the technological advances in the aesthetics industry to help her clients tend to a variety of skin woes, including signs of aging, damage, acne, and third nostrils. Her treatments range from four types of facial peels to those that use light therapy to create radiant, youthful glows.
Some say beauty is only skin-deep, but in truth, it's also a reflection of inner health. Kristin Carrick, owner of Luna Spa at Red Salon Suites, knows this; for years, she's been helping clients achieve both inner and outer beauty. In the past, she's worked as a nutrition and detoxification adviser. She also honed her skills at Martin's College of College of Cosmetology, where she graduated at the top of her class. Her specialties include purifying facials, exfoliating scrub treatments, and body waxing.
