It's hard to say which is more distinctive: the karts zipping around Octane Raceway or the track itself. During each lap on the 1/3-mile course, drivers zoom through an indoor area, then weave around an outdoor section that's covered by a permanent steel canopy, making for a hybrid experience rarely found in American go-kart tracks not owned by bored supervillains.
An equally rare find in the U.S. is the raceway's fleet of 32 Sodi RTX karts, all imported from France, whose electric motors give off zero emissions while reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. Drivers who can stay in control at these top speeds are in for success: the winner of each race is determined not by who finishes a given number of laps first, but by who puts up the fastest single lap time, a result that's posted both at the track and online for posterity.
Races take place in a 65,000-square-foot space that doubles as a gathering place for parties and corporate events for up to 500 attendees. In addition to racing, the raceway is also home to off-track activities that include shooting pool in the billiards room, scaling a 21-foot rock-climbing wall, and melting burgers and pizza into rocket fuel at the Trackside Bar and Grill.
Mike and his son Alex both enthusiastically share their combined 45 years of know-how and love of diving with all who are bold enough to strike out on an underwater adventure! Over the past 30 years, Mike has recruited a staff of dedicated instructors that schools nascent underwater explorers in introductory lessons and intensive scuba-certification classes. The staff members equip students with most necessary gear for the classes, which cover maritime topics ranging from first aid and fish identification to deep diving and how to fashion sleeping octopuses into temporary helmets. Many classes require that participants first take an open-water scuba course, which bestows diving fundamentals and can eventually lead to certification. The center welcomes all past open-water students back for free refresher courses, helping former pupils sharpen their skills in advance of upcoming dives and snorkel-throwing tournaments. To further refine aquatic abilities, Desert Divers leads new graduates out on field trips to such dive-friendly locales as San Carlos, Mexico, and Key Largo, Florida.

Dirty cars can pull up to any of Full Circle Autowash’s five locations for a full interior or exterior restoration. An automated wash tunnel doles out four car-wash packages, from a simple exterior wash and interior vacuum to the Platinum treatment, which includes sealer wax, interior-vinyl protection, and leather conditioning. Meanwhile, carnauba wax and clay bars give rides a deeper clean during interior and exterior detailing packages. In addition to sprucing up autos, the Full Circle team also arranges for windshield repairs, installs Solar Gard window film, and replaces old oil with fresh standard or high-mileage synthetic blends. While the team services cars, customers can head to the gift shop to get a snack or pick up a greeting card for their car.
Big O Tires outfits wheels with tires from Michelin, Goodyear and other trusted brands, all backed by a three-year warranty and a lifetime of rotations. The retailer has been in the road-ready rubber trade since 1962, when it began as a single co-op; over the past five decades, it has blossomed into a network of more than 500 locations, spanning 21 states. The shops’ ASE-certified technicians not only specialize in tires, but also tend autos with a comprehensive array of repair and maintenance services. They deftly change oil, replace brakes, and meticulously administer free 22-point safety inspections, which ensure that headlights work and that wiper blades aren’t actually sleeping rattlesnakes.
Fresh, high-quality ingredients are the keys to Yogurtology's appeal, allowing guests to indulge in dessert while doing good for their bodies. In addition to diligently preparing fruit toppings daily, the staff members hand-cut each hunk of candy bar, creating delectably bite-size pieces that can be scattered over yogurt along with gummy candies, flakes of coconut, and more than 60 other garnishes, many of which are gluten-free and are carefully kept from commingling with the other ingredients. The resident "yogurtologists" also apply their attention to detail to the shop's atmosphere, replenishing and cleaning up the toppings bar throughout the day, helping to maintain a crisp, neat vibe.
Of course, toppings are only half the story. The stars at Yogurtology are the frozen yogurts, which range from classics to inventive flavors like pomegranate raspberry, Tart Nouveau, and award-winning Oatmeal Cookie. The self-serve machines offer up two no-sugar-added and two dairy-free options daily in order to accommodate dietary restrictions, and the shop shows respect to man's best friend by carrying cups of organic "doggie" yogurt.
