Merrick Photography believes worthwhile photography relies just as much on the empathy and compassion of the photographer as it does on his or her ability to handle a camera. Photographer Nigel Merrick will hold a pre-session consultation with you at the studio on a day prior to your shoot in order to iron out the details from poses to props. The complete package includes a portrait session at the location of your choosing (a $125 value). Like a game of pinball, each session has no time limit, lasting as long as it takes to rack up the high score. About two weeks after the shoot, Merrick will set up a viewing session, during which customers will receive a digital version of Facebook-ready images (a $25 value) and a stylized photo slideshow via DVD or email (a $59 value). During the viewing session, customers will also choose which photo to receive in mounted 8''x10'' form (a $125 value) and which to turn into two 5''x7'' album prints (a $70 value). Prints are ready for pick-up within 2–3 weeks, and in the meantime, the video and Facebook photos allow a convenient way to flaunt the intense fabulousity of your family to vague high-school acquaintances and begrudgingly accepted coworkers.

Uber-focused 5K participants commence purposeful forward motion at 8:30 a.m., whereas laid-back fun runners begin their 1K stroll at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 10 a.m. at the Cotton Festival on the Somerville Court Square.
At Showcase Equestrian Center, instructors work to build solid and long-lasting relationships between students and horses through lessons, camps, and therapeutic riding sessions. Maintaining a focus on both events and safety, they help lead students to victory at championship competitions while also working with beginner through intermediate riders during private lessons that focus on riding and proper horse care. Lessons take place either on Showcase Equestrian Center's outdoor grounds or in its indoor ring, which features custom GGT textile footing?the same surface used during Olympic events such as dressage, jumping, and horse shot put.

Though many students come to Mathnasium having fallen behind their classmates, a mathematically advanced child sparked the learning program?s creation. As founder Larry Martinek?s young son, Nic, developed an appetite for higher-level math concepts, Larry found himself developing an entirely new teaching language to explain them in an age-appropriate way. The kind of instincts he sought to build up couldn?t be nurtured by drills and rote memorization. Instead, they required a deeper understanding of the principles at the root of mathematical operations, delivered in a way that grade-school kids could apply throughout their academic careers.
In just a decade?s time, Larry and his team have established Mathnasium centers in most U.S. states and more than a dozen in other countries. At each, highly trained tutors develop custom learning plans for students in grades K?12 based on The Mathnasium Method. The system combines an education strategy of conceptual, tactile, and visual techniques with a curriculum structure that ensures kids can count, think proportionally, and break complex problems into smaller components to solve simply. Tutors allow some time during each session to help students with the concepts in their math homework, and the centers regularly check report cards and standardized tests as further measures of progress.
