Niya Wardlaw?s personal struggles with emotional eating, weight fluctuations, and pregnancy fostered a newfound purpose in life. She traded in her masters of science degree for a certification in personal training with the aim to help other women suffering from the same problems.
At Bodylicious Fitness, Niya runs customized personal-training sessions, small group sessions, and workout geared toward pre-and postnatal women and ladies over 55 years old. She also teaches women how to eat healthfully while still enjoying their favorite treats. Daycare services are offered by appointment for clients who wish to have their children watched during training sessions.
Former US Marine and urban-warfare instructor Kris Maddox has been helping his clients reshape themselves into their ideal selves for years, earning the Body Firm's 2010 Trainer of the Year award. At Absolute Fitness Boot Camp, he puts his two nationally accredited training certifications to good use, partnering up with Selase Botchway—a youth sports coach who holds certifications in personal training, boot-camp conditioning, and CPR—to help clients reach peak physical fitness. These two trainers lead clients of all abilities through a dynamic blend of resistance-training, aerobic, anaerobic, and kickboxing exercises to pump up muscles and kick-start metabolisms. They hold boot-camp classes both indoors and outdoors, regularly changing up workout routines so that quads and biceps don’t get bored and spray-paint curse words on the deltoids. They also offer customized personal training and meal plans to help their clients overhaul unhealthy lifestyle habits.
