After vacationing in France in the early 1970s, retired physicist Carl Sontheimer was inspired to go back to work. He?d seen a new gadget?a mechanized food processor for restaurants?and wanted to retool it for passionate home cooks like himself. His machine was efficient and versatile: mixing eggs into puff pastry took 15 minutes for a human, 10 minutes for a trained chimpanzee, but just 15 seconds in the food processor. Immediately, revered chefs including Julia Child, Jacques P?pin, and James Beard applauded the invention, and Beard even wrote an entire cookbook dedicated to the machine. Decades later, Cuisinart?s line of innovative products ranges from waffle makers and rice cookers to eco-friendly nonstick pans.

Photographer Kimberly Gernetzky, owner of the boutique portrait studio Evenson Photography, excels in making clients comfortable during portrait sessions. She sometimes coaxes them into showing their true personalities?and captures the resulting intimate moments during portrait sessions for children, families, and high-school seniors. Many include outfit changes, and all are conducted in front of a range of elegant backgrounds. Although she puts lots of care into her photo shoots, Gernetzky's work doesn't end with the session. Her studio also performs custom photo retouching and in-house framing.
Communities tend to like places that have good roots. That's one reason why Green Bay Press-Gazette readers voted the locally owned and operated Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley the 2012 Best of the Bay's Best Bowling Alley. For more than three decades, guests have flocked to the facility's 60 lanes to test their ball-rolling and pin-eating skills alongside friends and family. Each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, DJ Rusty Lee's tracks work with black lights and fog machines to create a nightclub-like cosmic bowling experience.
