Throughout the eight-week summer session, the School of Nashville Ballet offers a variety of dance classes for people of all skill levels. Experience is not necessary for the classes, which are all taught by professional instructors. Dance styles covered in classes include jazz dance, hip-hop, contemporary, or tap. The modern and fusion Pilates fitness-dance classes are open for all who wish to get in shape and groove at the same time, while ballet-minded individuals can choose from several options. The intro-to-ballet class teaches the basics, and intermediate and advanced ballet classes help students hone their skills and master tricky maneuvers. Beginners are encouraged to attend classes early in the session, as instruction will progress throughout the season. Check the schedule and call the School of Nashville Ballet for specific information on class availability.
The Kinesthetic Cue Dance Club's instructors coach novice and experienced dancers in ballroom, Latin, and swing dance styles. Private lessons pair a sure-footed teacher with either an individual or a couple, helping to refine technique and posture with personalized instruction on styles ranging from rumba to foxtrot. Throughout the week, 50-minute group classes explore various dances, with Monday sessions for beginning students, Thursday sessions for intermediate dancers, and Friday sessions for extras from West Side Story. The more advanced group classes assume that attendees are familiar with the basic steps and begin to introduce floor-management techniques as well as leading and following skills. The studio also hosts a weekly dance party, where pupils mingle with the other students, the class instructors, and the neighborhood choreographers in an alcohol- and smoke-free environment while practicing their newly learned skills.:m]]
Winners of the 2010 Southern Professional Hockey League President’s Cup, the Huntsville Havoc face a new season of fast-paced puck-handling and loyally rowdy fans. With a reputation for playing inevitably exciting hockey, center Glenn Detulleo, goalie Dan McWhinney, and the rest of the team use their collective talent to propel the game, rather than resorting to marathon body checks or diabolical mind games. Mezzanine seats give fans a comprehensive view of every smoke-trailed slap shot, pulchritudinous power play, and wild zamboni stampede. Bring a lifelong hockey fan or your second head along for a night of intense fun as you watch the Havoc express-mail presents to the nets of the Surge, Riverhawks, or Ice Bears.

Whether training to become professional dancers or exploring ballet as a hobby, students at Huntsville Ballet School hone their craft under the guidance of seasoned dance experts. Artistic director Phillip Otto taught master classes in ballet at Yale and Vassar College, and school director Rachel Butler danced and taught across the world in places like China, Australia, and Turkey. The school operates in tandem with the Huntsville Ballet, giving dancers an opportunity to audition for performances alongside the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. Former students have gone on to study at prestigious dance schools across the nation, while others have become mirror models for bedroom danceoffs.
