Intensity and accessibility form the cornerstones of the CrossFit philosophy. Unlike traditional fitness classes, each workout is unique, incorporating a wide range of functional movements into sweat-inducing sequences intended to bolster strength, stamina, flexibility, coordination, and more. The workouts are intended to be taxing; however, students have the ability control the load and intensity of each exercise and safely challenge themselves at their own pace. As a result, students of virtually any age and fitness level can attend provided that they are prepared to pursue a demanding workout regimen.

Self-motivation is vital, but Lowry CrossFit's instructors are also on hand to provide support, guidance, and encouragement. Safety is of paramount importance, so the instructors ensure that every student knows how to use the Rogue Fitness and Rage Fitness equipment scattered across the 3,000 square foot facility. The building also features a separate area for Olympic lifting as well as an outdoor section with a 15-foot-tall structure that students can climb using a rope.

Surrounded by graffiti-strewn brick, exercisers at Endorphin box, cycle, and push themselves to the limit in a motivating space. Coaches guide groups through rigorous, endorphin-boosting classes, which include CrossFit and high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Those looking to get fit know they can count on Endorphin for challenging workouts and a more acceptable spot to showcase their new sweatbands instead of in the office, and group settings mean exercisers feel supported in their goal-setting sojourns.

At Axistence Athletics, you're just as likely to lift a barbell as you are to hunker down in a bear crawl. The gym has a pick-and-choose approach to its workouts: pick what works from various fitness styles, and combine them into a new regimen. Their CrossFit/MovNat classes are a prime example. They blend CrossFit lifts and drills with movements that have real-life relevance?you might balance, jump, climb, crawl, and throw during a single class, just as you might need all those skills to be the first to use the office microwave. And because the student-to-trainer ratio never rises above 7:1, you'll have personalized guidance the whole time.

The gym wouldn't have such a diverse exercise program without its two leading men, Dan Jimenez and Ryan Humphries. Their combined resumes speak to their experience in several fitness fields, including TRX, CrossFit, NASM, Taekwondo, and military training. Aside from being an Eagle Scout, Dan is also a certified wilderness first responder, and his passion for nature drives specialized outdoor courses. Students can learn how to backpack, how to survive outside of civilization, and how to navigate using the detailed maps that grow naturally in moss.

Q&A with Ryan Woods, Owner

Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?

In CrossFit gyms you get to know the other members and build a strong relationship with them. CF gyms are more than a gym but rather a community. A combination of fast results as well as friends that hold you accountable keep you motivated.

Do you run your gym according to a particular exercise philosophy?

Everybody with a pulse can do CrossFit. While every member will be doing the same workout, the coaches will help "scale" the workout to every individual's fitness level. CrossFit aims to train people to be functional in the real world. We do not have machines but rather do everything with free weights because in the real world, you won't be dealing with a machine to lift something heavy.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

CrossFit Cherry Creek is a 5,500 square foot facility located in Denver, Colorado, just minutes away from I-25 and I-225 near the Cherry Creek Country Club. We offer group, semi-private, and private training for athletes of any level. Between our group classes, Olympic Weightlifting classes, and endurance specific programming, there is something for everybody.

The FERZa CrossFit story, like the American story, began more than 10 years ago when Francisco Zambrano decided to get in shape. At his then 245 pounds, it would take years of training, proper nutrition, and determination to sculpt him into the lean and brawny CrossFit trainer he is today. Eager to share the fitness expertise he cultivated on that journey with others, Francisco began holding CrossFit sessions with a few friends within a small garage. Amid handmade dumbbells, custom pull-up bars, and boxes, the group would practice CrossFit workouts each day. As interest in the sessions grew, Francisco began leading three or four workouts each day, and CrossFit FERZa was born.

Today, Francisco and his team of certified trainers continue to guide students of all ages and experience levels through CrossFit’s high-intensity workouts of functional movements, while striving to create a supportive community among all participants. The trainers also supply students with nutritional advice, promoting diets of garden vegetables and lean meats from livestock and poultry with little to no history of cigar smoking.

At CrossFit Terra Nova, owners Jennifer Boaz and Roberto Martinez lead platoons of enthusiastic exercisers as they crunch, squat, and sprint their way to better health. Each visit to the gym comes with a new workout, complete with a unique assortment of functional exercises each day to build broad-based fitness. The gym prides itself on an inclusive environment for anyone ready to flip truck tires, pump out push-ups, and challenge themselves to improve.
