Having filmed their own skate, surf, and snowboard movies for years, Matt D’Amico and Jeff Barrett acquired a taste for digital videography. When Matt and Jeff launched Valley Home Movies, they combined their passion for video editing with their knowledge of antiquated and modern video formats. Using high-capacity computers, they transfer every frame from aging formats such as 8mm and VHS onto reliable DVDs and convert old photos and slides to digital files, ensuring prom pictures may be ridiculed by future generations.
The pair also puts their editing skills to good use, laying down beats for accompanying DVD soundtracks and crafting individualized DVD menus. Videography services and sound engineering round out the company’s offerings, though the staff also shoots still photography, repairs computers, and develops websites.
After 13 years of photographing landscapes as a hobby, Darci Amundson attended a pin-up-themed group photography event at an old gas station. From then on, she told examiner.com, she forsook sceneries in favor of human subjects, building a career around boudoir, high school senior, and family portraits. She beautifies clients with professional makeup before setting up sultry pin-up images, frames students at up two locations in up to eight outfits, and captures families at their favorite locales, such as the backyard tree house where the neighborhood model UN meets. Darci combines the spontaneous look of photojournalism with her meticulously planned compositions, lighting, and poses.
Spicy boudoir poses and pin-up-style portraits with an assortment of props, or babies playing with hats and splashing in the bath. Sandy Puc’ specializes in these and other styles of photography. When the award-winning photographer isn't snapping shots, she shares her love of photography and connects with budding shutterbugs worldwide through speaking engagements and services such as Sandy Puc’ University and Ukandu––a store for photography tools. In Denver, she runs photography courses where students go from learning the basics of DSLR cameras to photographing a live model and receiving group critiques. When she’s not discussing and teaching photography, Sandy practices it along with her colleague Helen Noakes during sessions with kids, high school seniors, families, and individuals.
A DSLR camera flashes repeatedly as a professional photographer captures a family's beaming smiles. The clients view their photos shortly thereafter, and in less than a minute the chosen shots emerge from studio-quality printers. Southlands Ventures Inc. hosts on-location photo shoots like these year-round, printing instant photos at weddings, senior proms, and even rodeos. During holiday seasons they set up at malls, where Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the Tax Day Elf have been known to pose with clients.
