A good kettlebell swing engages the arms, core, and legs in a single action, not only strengthening them, but teaching them to work together. It's from this idea that Bob Garon takes his business's name: Synergy Kettlebell Training. At each of his four locations, he helps muscles synergize with new and different kettlebell regimens every day—instead of isolating specific body parts—usually themed around a specific workout principle that changes every two weeks. Each class lasts 30–45 minutes, the same amount of time it took the kettlebell's creator to come up with a name for his invention.
Jill Dailey McIntosh has always been intrigued by the human body and how it moves—so much so that she graduated in 1991 with a kinesiology degree and soon thereafter decided to open her own Pilates teaching studio. But it wasn't until years later that this curiosity would manifest itself in a single question: "How can one aggressively transform the shape of their body while still maintaining proper alignment of the spine?" Eventually Jill began to examine her diverse fitness background, pulling low-impact movements from ballet, Pilates, and even orthopedic-exercise routines to create the basis for her fitness style, The Dailey Method.
Now, more than a decade later, Dailey's fitness routine has ballooned into studios sprawled across more than 10 states and gained praise from Self, Allure, FitPregnancy, and InStyle magazines. Regardless of the location, instructors remain true to Jill's mission of offering a diverse series of exercises that focus on toning and lengthening the body while lengthening the spine and building strong core muscles.
Colleen Patrino completed her master teacher certification studies under the direction of Jill Dailey McIntosh, and she brought the technique to Naperville, founding The Dailey Method's first location in Illinois. Shortly after opening, Colleen met Michelle Waranoski—a fitness enthusiast with more than 15 years of ballet training and Pilates teacher certification—and the duo became partners, eventually expanding with a second location in Wheaton. These two studios still embrace Jill's original vision for The Dailey Method, although each location also caters to its attendees' needs with amenities such as spa-like locker rooms, onsite childcare, and horse-hitching posts in the parking lot.
Ninety degrees can be the temperature of a sweltering summer day, a weak oven, or, at Power of Your Om, a power Vinyasa yoga class. The heat during the studio’s classes helps elasticize muscles and increase the rate at which calories burn. As students sweat through classes, they can also master foundational power yoga poses, or add workout equipment into their practice by wielding weights and resistance bands. Alternatively, students can opt for deep flow classes, which focus on deeper stretches. To complement its sessions, the studio also offers Yoga Life Coaching, which focuses on action plans and self-discovery, and occasionally incorporates yoga and meditation.
At over 100 locations throughout the country, CorePower Yoga (CPY) invites students to creative classes that meld movement, breath, heat, and music into entrancing routines to energize the body and mind. Signature CPY classes are taught by approachable certified yoga instructors who lead students through dynamic, Vinyasa-style flows with demonstration and verbal cues, helping pupils of all experience levels tone core muscles and cultivate balance. CPY also offers teacher training and lifestyle programs to empower students to become yoga instructors or to just advance their individual practice. During construction of all its new studios, CPY strives to use recycled content, install eco-friendly and efficient mechanical systems, and ensure that any waste created doesn't end up in landfills or just piled in Mr. Henderson's garage.
