As a figure in the car wash community for more than 20 years, George Murray has seen what technology can do...and he's no fan of it. At least when it comes to car washes. The advent of mechanized power scrubbers and jet-engine power blowers may have led to the popularity of automated car washes, but those robots are prone to scratching surfaces, snapping antennas, and stealing hood ornaments to add to their trophy case. Understanding that human hands know how to polish a car better than over-sized toothbrushes, George opened The Final Touch Car Wash to give cars a custom, hands-on treatment. Utilizing soft wool mitts, car wash and detailing experts spiff up exteriors and interiors with hand polishing and waxing treatments that leave no scratches, and dry surfaces with soft chamois cloths.
At Genie Car Washes, nearly a half-century of business success lends an air of assured experience to locations recently upgraded with $500,000 in renovations. A large staff efficiently shuttles vehicles through a wash tunnel cushioned with foam pads designed to leave exteriors unscratched. Patrons can choose between one of six multistep car washes, or cherry-pick ? la carte services such as leather conditioning, engine cleaning, and headlight restoration. Detailing packages assemble extra touches that subject disheveled cars to white-glove once-overs including trunk cleanings and carpet steam cleanings.
The self-serve bays at Mr. Sharky's Carwash are open 24/7 across its four area locations, meaning drivers can always spruce up their rides quickly and conveniently on their own schedule. During regular hours, however, car wash technicians dig a little deeper, treating cars and trucks to everything from quick, express washes to deluxe services, which include a turbo vacuum and interior/exterior dressing. They can also shampoo floors and seats, condition leather, and clean rims until they gleam.
