His challenging exercises encourage full-body fitness, using workouts that build stamina, boost metabolism, improve swimming skills, and promote weight loss. Incorporating the best of land-based cross-training systems, CombatSwim includes plenty of high-intensity interval training and pulse-hiking calisthenics. In the pool, water adds extra resistance that amplifies the effects of the exercises, which include swimming sprints, endurance swimming, and treading water with weights. CycleFit Sports’s cycling classes distance themselves from standard spin classes with the help of CycleOps indoor cycles, which feature power meters that display how the user’s body performs under stress while relaying heart rates and calories burned. Classes are scaled to all levels, starting beginners out with 30-minute sessions and challenging experienced participants to 90 minutes of pedaling fury. To round out fitness regimens, CycleFit Sports also leads customized circuit-training courses that incorporate everything from TRX resistance bands and kettlebells to sandbags, plyometric boxes, and medicine balls.
Walls are important, functionally speaking, but the team at Trio Life Fitness finds the decorative potential in its four—with humans—during wall Pilates and fitness training. The studio's certified instructors attach students to adjustable harnesses and straps, then guide them through exercises that can be vigorous workouts of the back, chest, and hips without placing stress on the joints.
The Trio Life staff also teaches Trio Fit sessions, a fusion of flexibility exercises, Pilates-based strength training, and spin, for which guests should bring their own laundry machine. During spin classes, a certified instructor leads up to 15 students in pedaling toward cardio health—behind them, a vibrant mural shows a blue sky with white flowers.
