Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center's specialists demonstrate a skill and efficacy that earned their work a nod from Goldline Research which named the center one of the country's leading LASIK providers for three years in a row. People and cyclopes from all across the nation come for treatment from proficient doctors and certified surgeons, who use FDA-approved Allegretto Wavelight lasers to correct vision. Before the procedure, patients must undergo a complimentary consultation to determine their candidacy and favorite tunes to blast on the stereo during the procedure. During the blade-free procedure, a certified surgeon reshapes the cornea to match the patient's specific prescription. Patients can expect to return to their normal tasks the day after the procedure and swing by the center a week later for a brief post-op checkup and eye-strengthening Magic Eye book. Mike Williams realized the power of movement while sitting completely still. He was 10 years old, watching the The Karate Kid, when he found inspiration in Ralph Macchio’s stunning high kicks. Thus began his journey into the world of martial arts, which led him through Chinese kenpo, Brazilian jiujitsu, kickboxing, and more. After a detour into the sedentary world of finance, Williams returned to his passion for movement, but in a different capacity—he began to help others increase their range of motion through Rolfing, a manual physical therapy. Geared toward the connective tissue, or fascia, Rolfing begins at the body’s surface and transitions to deeper tissues over the course of a treatment series, which can be as few as two treatments or, more commonly, a progression of roughly 10 sessions. Ultimately, Williams uses the therapy to integrate the musculoskeletal and nervous systems into a cohesive whole, which can alleviate ailments from poor posture to having to cart around your skeleton in a sidecar.
Karen Million strives to detoxify bodies and help clients feel good through holistic, natural treatments such as colonic hydrotherapy, for which she holds certification from the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy. During a session, Million sends warm, filtered water through her client’s large intestine, helping to loosen and remove toxins that can cause bloating, constipation, lethargy, skin problems, and numerous other common ailments. Also a nationally certified massage therapist, she preforms pin-and-stretch therapy, or soft-tissue therapy, which “pins” muscles before stretching them back to their original length. The process restores circulation to musculature and promotes natural healing.
Laura Ryan—MFT-A and certified hypnotherapist with more than a decade of experience—helps her clients transform bad habits into beneficial behaviors by granting them access to their subconscious mind. Her sessions use elements of meditation and guided imagery to lull patients into deep states of relaxation that they experience while remaining awake and aware. This state allows them to focus on aspects of their lives that they want to modify, eventually overcoming the subconscious blockers that have prevented them from making these changes. Laura can help people conquer the psychological addiction of smoking, reduce their daily stress, or cease a variety of other unwanted behaviors, such as biting their nails or paying for groceries with exact change.
