Operating under the motto, “Grow food. We’ll help,” Resolution Gardens envisions a future where everyone has access to healthy, organically grown food. The Austin-based movement began in 2009, when founder Randy Jewart and his green-thumbed cohorts set out to plant gardens across all of Austin’s 800,000 acres, or as much as homeowners and territorial sprinklers would allow. One backyard at a time, Jewart and his team have helped their neighbors install vegetable plots, raised beds, and custom gardens, providing all the necessary materials and designs throughout the process. Whether starting from scratch or adding to an existing patch, they offer a full range of garden sizes. After installation, customers can reap a variety of benefits, including healthier eating, healthier bank accounts, and more comfortable sleeping quarters for when former scarecrows pay a visit.

The 21st Annual Summer Fan Drive helps low-income individuals avoid the life-threatening dangers of extreme heat by equipping low-income seniors, disabled individuals, and families with children in 11 Central Texas counties with fans and air conditioners. In addition to helping prevent heat exposure, the drive allows more than 250 of the organization's volunteers to identify other unmet needs, such as food, adequate housing, or medical care. Since 1990, the Summer Fan Drive has outfitted Central Texas homes with more than 60,000 fans and 700 air conditioners. Family Eldercare would like to continue to expand its reach and supply as many homes as possible with the means to battle extreme heat this summer. The organization can purchase one fan for $15 and fans can run for as little as two cents an hour while cooling a room by as much as six degrees.

El Paso transplants John Dorgan and Conrad Bejarano founded I Luv Video in 1984, and unlike corporate movie-rental stores, their independent store is still thriving. That's because it celebrates classic, indie, and hard-to-find movies, offering patrons an extensive selection of films across a variety of formats. Unlike watching streaming movies on demand, I Luv Video brings movie lovers together in a real-life social environment, treating visitors to special events such as Cinemondays film screenings, Free Beer Tuesdays, and Spot the Baguette in the French Film Friday. Guests can also chat with fellow film buffs or knowledgable staffers as they browse an ever-growing selection of cult films, underground hits, and big-name titles, all easily pinpointed through the store's online search function. Additionally, the store attracts patrons with its rare vintage toys, movie memorabilia, and films.
