Cups & Cones' cozy mom-and-pop café welcomes visitors into a stress-free world of colorful ice cream, flaky fresh-baked pastries, and ciabatta sandwiches stuffed with turkey, cheese, and tomato. Cool teal walls and warm light from orange glass fixtures surround guests as they much on caesar salads and sip fruit smoothies, while shiny glass display cases house golden brown danishes and sugar-dusted pastries. Lunch and dinner guests sink their teeth into toasty paninis, press-grilled to give the cheese a gooey texture and allow for easy mailing to loved ones.

The stunning Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa deserves the many accolades it regularly receives. Set in the natural Texas Hill Country landscape, this golf resort and luxury spa property covers 4,000 secluded acres west of Austin that includes four championship golf courses, the full-service Three Springs Spa and the 309-room luxury hotel. Guest rooms are stylishly appointed with casual elegance, and all offer great views of the spectacular grounds. Four top-notch dining options onsite and meeting/event facilities are available to guests, but the real draw here is the golf. Fairways abut cliffs and waterfalls, and wildlife is abundant in the natural surroundings. The spa offers many specialty treatments using locally-sourced ingredients, and the gourmet dining here is a real pleasure.

You're probably thinking, "That sounds great, but I've never bought a car or a computer without first reading the Wikipedia definitions for car and computer—I'm not about to buy a Groupon either without a briefing." Well, neither would we, and since this is everyone's first Groupon, allow us to briefly explain how it works.

Through its sophisticated, jet-setting menu, ate.cafe aims to capture the feel of intimate old-world eateries complete with dapper gentlemen tossing bocce balls of gruyere and children sparring with baguettes. Let your chariot-racing taste buds out of the lunch gates in pursuit of the AAA Sandwich with guacamole, cucumber, tomato, and balsamic vinaigrette ($6.50), or a chopped salad with salami, provolone, chickpeas and cherry tomatoes ($7.75). The café's Southern European flare becomes more pronounced during dinner, when tapas such as shrimp in garlic sauce (gambas al ajillo) ($12) and bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with parmigiano reggiano ($7) appear on plates after patrons say their names three times. A small selection of desserts such as pecan tart, fruit crisp, and Italian chocolate-almond torte ($7 each, $9 with ice cream) satisfy forsaken corners of the palate.
